Happy Leap Day!

This is part of a set of Impress Chandelier cards that I've made ala the Impress Rubber Stamp Thank You Gallery. It is FULL of Impress{ive} ideas...love their clean and simple designs.

~deets~
Stamps: Impress, Stampin' Up Think Big
Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black
Paper: Fabriano

I've already celebrated Leap Day with Flourishes! They are having a sale over at their website...you should check it out. They also recently started to carry hinged clear boxes. They are perfect for storing clear stamps. I have a bunch of A Muse, Memory Box and Rubber Soul clear stamps that need a home and these clear boxes will be perfect!

On Feb 27 & Feb 28, one of the radio stations that I listen to, 106.1 KISS FM, ran a 28 hour radio-a-thon to benefit Children's Hospital. This is the first year that I've donated, I was so moved by all of the stories they aired {translation: I was sobbing}....it made me so thankful that I have 2 healthy kids. I can not begin to imagine what some families must go through when their children become ill. We were listening to radio-a-thon last night and both the kids told me that they wanted to donate $20/each....so I called in their pledge. Isn't that the greatest?

Here's to a huge shout out to my FABulous kids, they rock my world.

Ribbon....Ribbon....Ribbon....

What girl doesn't like ribbon? Well, what stamping girl doesn't love ribbon......my non-stamping friends don't "get" it..but a girl can never have too much ribbon. I found Elaine and her blog, A Place for Ink, via Splitcoaststampers. She was selling gorgeous May Arts ribbon....and I couldn't resist! Keep an eye on her blog, she'll be doing another ribbon share and I can't wait to see what she has to offer....She was so sweet to include a card and some chocolate...already ate the chocolate so it isn't in any of the photos :)

Which ribbon is your favorite?

My Creative Classroom

I signed up for Julie Ebersole's classes via mycreativeclassroom.com. How cute are the A Muse stamps? They are part of the class kit for the "Kawaii-sian Inspired Greetings" that I just received. I'm also enrolled in her "Simply Great Card Designs" and hope to learn a ton of Julie's "secrets"!

Ooh La La A Muse!

Sometimes I'm slow to jump on the 'ole bandwagon...I recently discovered Lizzie Anne Designs! Talk about sue-pah sweet images!!! I actually bought the Ooh La La set via Jacksonbelle's ebay store {which is now temporarily closed since she is moving out of state}....I love anything parisian!

The Oval Scallop image is ala A Muse...I'm pretty sure that it was in with my huge lot 'o A Muse that I scored via Splitcoaststamper's...woo hoo!

The inspiration for my card is yet again the wonderful Impress Rubber Stamp Thank You Gallery. I've actually had the Making Memories ribbon for a long time and finally cut into it! Adding a Prima and a little bling makes the card that much more feminine, dontcha think?

I gotta add that I love living in Washington State...check out the {Washington} businesses that I've just mentioned in this post:

Big Thank You to Gina K!!

Thank You to Gina K of Gina K Designs, I finally took my Janome out of her box!!! I couldn't believe the wonderful step by step tutorial that Gina K posted on her blog. If you're like me, bought the Janome Sew Mini and haven't taken her out of her box, check out Gina's blog!!!

I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to sew.....clothes....but haven't "got around to it". I should really, I would save a ton of $$ on alterations since I'm so petite. I always have to factor in alteration costs when I buy jeans....

Anyways, I had a fun time with my Janome and was able to make one stitched card....need way more practice on the corners but I'm so glad that I took the plunge!!!

I'm actually going to put together a set of them...same chandelier but different color inks and text stamps...it's a wonderful clean and simple design. Another Cake Decorating Card! This time I used my Basic Grey Scarlet Letter 6x6 DP Pad. The size of the patterns are perfect for paper piecing. I've had the wired wide black & white gingham for years and have recently had a lot of fun using it. I've always been in awe of the multi-layered cards in the Splitcoaststampers gallery....clean and simple is more my style but I do have fun doing the layered cards.

Happy Place

Breaking out the Basic Grey and my Flourishes Cake Decorating 101 set! I was inspired by Clownmom's Flourished Bird Bath. The Memory Box Early bird is perched on the edge of the bird bath, taking a rest.

I'll probably end up "tweeking" this, I tried putting crystal effects onto the "bird bath" but it just didn't look right.

This is a mondo card...I wanted to try out this size after reading about the envies that SU carries that are 8.75 x 5.75. That will be part of my
Sale-A-Bration order :)

Etsy: JapaneseHandmadeEtc

Just wanted to do a plug for my ultra-talented cousin who runs JapaneseHandmadeEtc.

Her bags are reversible and are double lined with fabric and have interfacing. The interfacing makes it so the box pouch keeps its shape. I bought a ton of them for Christmas gifts and put crown keychains in them :)

Live Now

Compliments of today's Higher Awareness email that I received:

Live now

"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."
-- Annie Dillard

We lose the power of the moment because we're so rarely in it. We're reliving the past or speculating about the future. We continue to believe that tomorrow's the day when I'll be more capable, more wealthy, more fit and more loving. Meanwhile, I'm just putting in time, dreaming of better things but not making any concrete move to realize them.

When you find yourself thinking of the future or the past, bring your awareness into the present moment. Really experience how you feel and what’s happening around you, without judgment. If we can treasure each moment, our lives will be rich, no matter what we have accomplished.

"Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered for they are gone forever."
-- Horace Mann

"If, before going to bed every night, you will tear a page from the calendar, and remark, 'there goes another day of my life, never to return,' you will become time conscious."
-- A. B. Zu Tavern

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I know I've posted this card before but I love the clean and simple look of it so I decided to make more of them. The little gift contains a sweet pewter crown keychain. My coworker had one of them and I looked all over for them. I'm one of those people that goes on a rampage trying to find something but did not have any luck. I finally decided to search via Ebay...voila!

It is engraved on the inside with:

Never underestimate the power of a princess

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Good Things Grow

I finally inked up my Good Things Grow set. I'm toying with the idea of removing the sentiment from the front of the card and perhaps putting it inside...I have decided that the bling has become my signature. I'm always trying to find a way to incorporate it in everything that I design. The placement of it on this card seems perfect!

The card below has a double image. I stamped the front of the card and then layered another one on top of it using dimensionals.

I'm on a roll creating cards for the Flourishes Cake Decorating Contest. My inspiration for this card comes from the incredibly talented Sharon L. Johnson aka notimetostamp...I'm always in awe of her fabulous works of art!

Why did I name the card "Venetian Lamp"? The shade is paper pieced using The Venetian Mat Stack..great textured, heavy cardstock that I received as a birthday gift last year {thanks M!}.

Self-Awareness

No projects or cards to post this morning. I plan on being crafty all weekend. Here is something thought provoking...it is compliments of Higher Awareness:

Step into Self-Awareness

"Getting in touch with your true self must be your first priority."
-- Tom Hopkins

Here are some different aspects of self-awareness:

- Know yourself - Explore who you are: your defences, your blocks, your talents, your aspirations, etc.

- Accept yourself - We are at war with ourselves when we resist or deny certain aspects of who we are. Acknowledge the truth of who you are right now - the positives and the negatives. Only when we own our present reality can we change.

- Control yourself - Set clear, conscious intentions and discipline yourself to meet them.

- Express yourself - Go to your heart to identify what has meaning and purpose for you. Live your truth. Identify ways you can give back to life and be in service.

We work on each of these aspects all the time. But as our lives go through cycles, we predominantly work on one of them more than the others. Which aspect are you more conscious of lately?

"Our lives improve only when we take chances ... and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves."
-- Walter Anderson

"Adventure can be an end in itself. Self-discovery is the secret ingredient that fuels daring."
-- Grace Lichtenstein

Thanks for the support....

Clean and Simple...that is the design I always love to fall back on. I am so glad that I discovered the fabulous Fabriano note cards. I just received notification that the 5x5 square Fabriano cards that I ordered on January 1st have shipped! I've been out of the size for awhile and I'm anxiously awaiting for them to arrive!

I just ordered a sweet Lizzie Anne Designs set named Ooh La La...{Thanks to to Jacksonbelle Embellishments!} I love the fun Parisian style! I didn't realize that Lizzie Anne Designs is a Washington {Duvall} company!

Okay, back to my card...super simple but love the sentiment...Fashion Statements is such a great girlie set. I made this one for a dear friend that has always supported me...I'm a lucky duck.

You've Got Mail...

Sometimes I'm slow to jump on the bandwagon...what I call the Splitcoaststamper's Bandwagon. SCS has a huge membership and a strong impact in the stamping community...new products are posted and before you know it, stores are "out-of-stock". For Valentine's Day 2007, Target sold these sweet little metal mailboxes in their dollar spot. SCS has over 950 mailboxes uploaded in their gallery...over 950! The mailboxes are back for 2008 and I managed to alter 2 of them....they are for Z's teachers. They are stuffed full of Valentine's Day goodies.

Thanks to emilymomto3boys for posting a tutorial on her blog on how to cover these mailboxes without popping off their flag {why "fix" something when it isn't broken?}.

Leo's Girls

I stocked up on these "altoid" tins via the Buy/Sell/Trade board on Splitcoaststampers. They are such a versatile size and can fit many different things including gift cards...candy....and Lucy Lu Mighty Magnets.

First the tin...I used a sheet of double-sided Chatterbox DP. It was really the olive green/khaki color that I thought would be perfect...the other side is a fun saffron stripe pattern. Stampin' Up's Tres Chic background stamp image is FABulous, I love the different fonts that they used! I inked up a Design Original sticker that is made for bottle caps...I thought this image would be perfect for someone that recently graduated from Law School {I hope you're not reading this JW!}. Of course I had to add some bling {can you see them on the rim of the bottle cap? I orginally used my Quickie Glue pen and ended up realizing it wasn't going to work so I flicked off the crystals and re-glued them on with Crystal Effects....added the prima flower to soften everything up.

Open up the tin and viola....magnets! They are called "Leo's Girls". I can't pass up a good deal...50% off? I'll take 5 of them...LOL. I found these Lucy Lu Mighty Magnets on sale at the UW bookstore a couple years ago. I couldn't resist them and decided to do a project "around" them. I used the saffron striped side of the Chatterbox paper to line the interior of the tin...

Flip the tin and I added an oval scallop to include a congrats to the hard working graduate...hope she likes it...

Paper: Chatterbox
Ink: VersaFine Vintage Sepia, chalk ink, chocolate chip marker
