Happy Chandelier Day!!!

Happy Friday!!!

This has gone postal to my dear blogging friend Susan. Chances are she hasn't received it BUT I wanted to end the week with it. We are having a friendly chandelier competition. She brings up the concept of connections. Isn't it wonderful to have connections? Whether it is with family and friends....people you see on a daily basis....to dear friends that you don't get to see too often....to people that you meet via blogging...or new connections, the people that you are just getting to know.
Connections are good for the soul...

Thank you Susan for being a fabulous blogging connection....you really help me ponder things with your thought provoking posts...

We're enjoying a mini vacation on one of the
San Juan Islands. The cottage that we are staying at is, well, rustic....but check out our view! It totally makes up for everything else...I just love ferry boats...riding them...seeing them...My kids were thrilled to take the ferry boat but more excited to buy "bugles" out of the vending machine...doesn't that crack you up? We brought tons of junk food {& fruit} and they are willing to spend the big bucks on the vending machine...ahhhh...to be a kid again.

I hope you have a magnificent weekend!!!

Sweet Bird

A clean and simple design...still having fun with inchies! How can anyone resist the sweet tiny bird image ala Amuse? Have you notice my trend in 4.25 inch cards? It really is a fun size to work with....

Mellow Whoot Whoot!

Here's a fun & funky card...gotta love the Kim Hughes line at Cornish Heritage Farms. Her images just call my name...This card has already gone postal to a gal that has always supported me. She helps me think things through and when we get together, we are always cracking up. She has a distinctive sense of style that is well, so her. The buttons are part of a vintage collection that I inherited...can you tell that I'm really working on not hoarding?

Yeah Baby!

I had fun playing with inchies! This is a 4.25 inch square card...yes, in an attempt to free myself from hoarding, it is a sheet of my precious Cool Caribbean stash. I actually took the time to write down the copic colors on a recycled piece of paper only to misplace that piece of paper...Can you tell that the inchie is on dimensionals? This will go postal to my cousin in California who is expecting her 2nd baby boy {hi e, d & b!}.

Hul.la.ba.loo'licious

Happy Monday!!

I spent all Sunday being crafty...it was a wonderful day of creativity and much needed therapy. One of my happy places is being surrounded by my stamps, inks, papers...a great way to start the week.

This card uses a gift that I received from a co-worker {hi b!}. She was sooo very sweet and gave me several pieces of the Making Memories Hul.la.ba.loo line...sue-pah cute stuff! I used Bravo Burgundy as the card base.

This card is for a dear co-worker {hi kq!}...she rocks our work place.

Tres Fabulous!

I've been fussing with this design over the last couple of days...looking at it...stepping away...coming back to it...it is all part of my creative process. I found this color combo on the SU color wheel....Rose Red & Regal Rose. The gorgeous velvet ric rak is via a Ribbon Share ala Jody Morrow aka SCS texasjodylynn. I've really been having fun making 4.25 inch square cards...great size AND no extra postage :)

I've accepted a chandelier challenge from Susan aka SCS One4Joy. I'm looking forward to the weekend...sleeping in and being creative...and challenging myself to design a unique chandelier card!

I was in a cleaning frenzy...

I don't have a card to share for today...I was in a total cleaning frenzy last night. I'm not sure where the energy came from but when it hits me, I gotta go with the flow. I've been meaning to do a closet purge and boy, did I. I was able to fill up several bags to donate...now I can actually walk into my closet and not trip over my shoes :)

Anyways, I wanted to share what my very talented cousin Satomi sent to me...it is a business card holder, isn't it FABulous? She does magnificent work...everything is straight and perfect-o.

She made me this awesome bag earlier....I actually gave her bags {pouches} to my friends for their Christmas gifts last year...The gals over at My Asian Heritage {hi i & a!} featured her on their Shop Talk. Please pop over to JapaneseHandmadeEtc and My Asian Heritage and check them out!

Thanks to Michelle at Designer Aloha and Carolina of Carolina's Creative Pad for passing along this Gold Card Award! I promise to pass it along to some ultra-creative peeps....this weekend:) Thanks ladies, you both rock! I love cruising through your blogs!!!

I recently picked up a package of inchies...yes, another late bloomer moment....hope to tap into those tonight...although soccer season started this week...both kids are playing :)

Sweet Cupcake and Happy ala Jenn

When I was digging around for something yesterday I came across this sweet savvy flower cupcake image. I decided to make a clean & simple card....added some fun ribbon and of course some glitter...viola! The A Muse text is perfect with it, dontcha think?

I tried to upload this FABulous card for Monday's post but it was not cooperating. I didn't have any problems today...go figure. I received this from the magnificent Jenn of Stamps and All that Jazz. You gotta check her out...she is spectacular! You gals kill me with all the layers....I absolutely **love** the look but I'm a lazy stamper :) I don't even try to pretend that I use my scraps...lol...I gave a whole box of them to my friend Laurel {hi!!!}. She's been making some pretty awesome cards out of them...

Anyways...thanks Jenn....you rock!!!

my happy place...or at least one of them...

I'm having problems with Blogger...specifically uploading pictures...sigh...I was finally able to get this one to load but will have to try posting my other picture {a BRAK} tomorrow...

We are having Fall like weather here and I'm absolutely lovin' it...although tonite it took me 2 hours to make 2 cards...I was having a hard time making things mesh....

The very lovely chandelier image is ala Tim Holtz {hubba hubba...always have to add that after his name...}. I picked it up at Impress...

I started designing my card with this
decor8 chandelier photo in mind..I was excited to finally use my Adirondack Snow Cap on Stampin' Up's Basic Gray...hmmm...It wasn't as crisp as I wanted...perhaps it is the image, since it is so detailed?

I ended up using my favorite VersaFine Onyx Black...that stuff rocks. The card is a 4.25 inch square.

A girl can never have too many chandelier images...my next one will be the new Stampin' up Grand Soiree set!

Luck & Good Fortune and Happy ala Carolina!

This is my liberal take of SCS SC #189..lol. It is a huge card...8.5 x 5.5 or is that 5.5 x 8.5? I offered to make a card for a co-worker that will be leaving. I like to coordinate the card with the gift wrap/gift so I needed to work with blues and greens. Thank goodness for the fabulous K&Co Blue Awning dp...I teamed it up with River Rock which I still love...it reminds me of my wall color...sometimes it takes on green tones and other times khaki...anyways, making a masculine card and working with blues...that was a challenge for me. I'm getting my $$ worth on my M's faux dew drops :)
Lookie at the spectacular card that Carolina sent me!!! Woo Hoo! Can you say lotsa layers and embellishments? Boy, do I feel spoiled...not to mention all of these goodies:
Sweet Mother of Pearl!

Thank You Carolina!!!! I'm floored with your generosity!

I'm happy to say that the weather has taken a good turn...it was so uncomfortably warm last week {90's}...it will be in the 60's/70's this week...woo hoo! That makes me a much happier girl AND I can be upstairs comfortably being crafty!!! My goal this week is to use some of the goodies that I've accumulated the last couple of weeks!

Happy Monday!!!

Happy Friday and Lots to Share!

Isn't this a FABulous card? I received it from the oh-so-very-talented Julia Aston! Please check out her blog, Create with Me. She always has wonderful creations to share!!!
Here are more birthday goodies from my kids and my friends {hi s & s!}. You're probably wondering about the bride & groom {ala A Muse} and the dum dum da dum {ala Savvy stamps}. My friend is a nut'ola...she has always said that she wants me to make her wedding invites...for whenever she gets married again..lol.
My boy wanted me to share a picture that he took this evening of his cat. Pretty good timing on his part...he caught her yawning.

Thanks to Miss Ivy of ivyPINK....This girl absolutely R*O*C*K*S!!! She has a FUN blog so go check it out...warning...she is an enabler....lol...she passed along this Brillante Weblog to 'lil ole me...I'm always soooo bad about picking other blogs to pass the awards to....all the blogs that I tap into are incredibly talented...so for all of you that have taken the time to read this incredibly long post for today....I nominate you!

It has been stinkin' hot here for the last couple of days...I don't like it when it gets over 75 degrees :) and it has been close to 90..blech. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!

Fun Flower Drinks

After

Before

I did some clicking around on my Kodak Easy Share to see if I could "lighten" up my card without losing/washing out the colors...what do you think? I do like how the after turned out. I'm still going to check out some photo tents/boxes but will start with a tri-fold presentation board. It is something I read about on Splitcoast...could have the potential of being a "cheap fix" but even if it doesn't end up working, one of the kids will need the presentation board for a school project...

I initally started off with the So Saffron 4 inch square with the intent of doing something like the image on my Jack Johnson CD..but I just didn't have the right "plant" image...

I decided to use my A Muse Flower Drinks image and Gina K's Punchy words...and of course my copics via Gina K...I broke into my Memento set and used the Rich Cocoa...Oh boy...LOVE that stuff!!!

Cupcake Riley and Savvy-licious...

Look at the sweet Riley card that I received from Jenn over at Stamps and All that Jazz!! She has done a FABulous job coloring and I "need" the 'hey there cupcake' stamp :) Thanks Jenn, you rock!!!

{I'm soooo going to check out photo tents/boxes..if anyone has any feedback I'd love to hear it....I don't know why sometimes the lighting turns yellowish, other times grey...}

This is the last of the Impress loot that I picked up using my gift card...they are all by Savvy Stamps...sue-pah cute!!!

Reaching for the Stars

A super easy smeasy card with a ton of meaning. This is going to someone that has always supported me in my creativity...always encourages me to reach for the stars...The star is by DeNami Designs..stamped in the FABulous color box Mica Magic Silver ink...it has a nice little sparkle to it...and yes, I'm not hoarding my SU Basic Gray Tafetta ribbon..
Wanted to share some of my goodies....my very lovely children gave me an Impress gift certificate. Here are a couple things I picked up...Memento inks...can't wait to break into those to use with my copics. Yuppers, that is a chandelier stamp...Tim Holtz {sigh}...I couldn't resist the rock star text stamp :)
I'm a lucky duck...I received flowers {thanks m & m!}..tons of fun cards and check out my birthday banner {thanks j!}...the banner was a total surprise and it actually made me tear up..just like all of you, I love to receive gifts that are handmade.

Mums the Word...

Isn't this paper absolutely gorgeous? I picked it up at A Muse a couple weeks ago. It is from Collage Press. The stitched twill is River Rock to match the solid cardstock but in the photo it doesn't look the same...but irl it's all good :)

I had a MAGnificent weekend...my family and friends totally spoiled me. I will be sharing photos this week...Today I had tons of dim sum at Four Seas in Seattle's International District {hi m!}. Last night I had dinner at Yeas Wok {hi m & l!} and Friday night at Lee's Restaurant {hey girls!}.

08/08/08.......Time of my Life

I made this for a co-worker's daughter {hi e & k!}. She picked out a lovely Begonia plant for my birthday, how sweet is she? This has to be one of my favorite A Muse images...just love her. I stamped her in VersaFine Onyx black and then colored her with various copics. I threw on some M's faux dew drops and some ribbon that I tend to hoard...

Speaking about copics...this would make any stamper mom proud. The kids called me from
Impress. My friend {hi s!} drove them there so they could buy me some birthday gifts. They kept calling to ask me if I have something already...meaning they didn't want to buy me any duplicates. During one of my convo's with my ds, he asked what copics I owned...he knew to ask about copics AND he pronounced it right. I told him that was blog worthy..lol.

I have a jam packed 3 days....wanted to leave you with one of my favorite songs..whenever I hear it, I have to crank it up:

I love these lyrics:

And I’ll taste every moment

And live it out loud

I know this is the time

This is the time to be

More than a name or a face in the crowd

I know this is the time

This is the time of my life

Time of my life…

The Journey....

I celebrate my birthday tomorrow...08/08/08. I'm surrounded with fabulous family and friends that continuously help me celebrate! I'm taking tomorrow off and will spend it relaxing and yes, celebrating! There was a potluck at work the other day for my birthday and my co-worker {hi s!}. I made up a bunch of these A Muse/Fabriano cards as thank you's....I colored the bike with Cameo Coral so it would match my own beach cruiser! You know me, I'll find time to hit some stamp shops over the weekend and do some birthday retail therapy!

I love all things Citrus...

This card was made especially for the magnificent Jenn...one of my blogging friends! She recently celebrated a birthday so I popped a citrus card to her...a splendiferous glittery lime! Go check out her fun blog, Stamps and all that Jazz, you'll love it :)

I'm a huge fan of anything citrus...especially Lemon Tarts...if you're a fan too and happen to visit Seattle, Macrina Bakery is a must. They not only make a gorgeous tart, it is delish! Macrina is nestled in the very fun Belltown..

Just a super quick thank you card using the oh-so-very-fabulous Amy Butler..

Lots of Thanks..less and more...

I'm a huge fan of the Autumn Leave page a day calendar...it is filled with tons of ideas. At the end of the year I take it to Office Depot and have it spiral bound. I just loved the "ready to ride" page and used it as the inspiration for my son's {very belated} thank you cards. This is the first card that I made {less}...
I thought it looked lonely so I added the scalloped chocolate chip strips {more}...
Have a super week!!

Wonderful and Christmas in July

TGIF & Happy August!!!

A clean and simple card that I made for my brother and his girlfriend..gotta remember to pop it out in the mail today. My Mom and I had dinner over at their lovely home last Saturday. The card base is Stampin' Up River Rock, I added a K-ology rub on and of course, some bling.

You were probably wondering what I meant by Christmas in July...I received my A Muse lot last night and let me tell you, it felt like Christmas!

I think I'm going to be super busy this weekend....

I hope that YOU have a wonderfully CREATIVE weekend!!!
