PB&J

Hello!

It seems like foodie cards are all the rage these days:

What can be better than peanut butter & jelly?

I'm entering this into the Pumpkin Spice challenge

(thanks June!)

I was inspired by Seize the Sketch #8:

I've been having fun with the set

Fun Facts:

I had my first peanut butter & jelly sandwich in high school (along with mac & cheese)!  We grew up on Japanese food so normal 'American' cuisine was a treat!
(I had it over at a friend's house and I thought it was gourmet!)

My son has taken a PB&J to school for lunch every day since Pre-School (he's in 11th grade this year!).

I spoiled my kids for awhile when they were younger and cut off the crusts from their sandwiches (big mistake because it took forever to get over the complaining when I stopped doing that!).

My boy knows when I try to slip some different brand food by him...for instance Peanut Butter.  He's a JIF boy and I buy the stuff at Costco.  You know when Costco stops selling stuff and replaces it with another brand....grrrrr....that's what happened and JIF became Skippy.  I got the:

"You know Mom, Choosy Mothers Choose JIF."

Be sure to check out the Seize the Sketch blog to see how my teamies were inspired!

  1. So cool, Amy! Love the colors you chose. The background paper makes me think of bread and school. And now I am craving a PB&J sandwich! ;)

  3. Adorable card and a delightful story about your son. I'm a fussy PB person, too: love Trader Joe's brand which is silly, because TJ's isn't in Canada (grrr...), so I stock up when we travel. My alternative is Adams; yummy, but not TJs. Thanks for sharing this sweet card; toast and PB on my breakfast menu!

  8. Such a cute card, love that you colored your peanut butter like Jif. PB is definitely not Asian....it's one of those things we would bring over (in giant containers) when we visited my relatives in Taiwan growing up. We also got JIF at Costco....but the jars were distinctly labeled in Sharpie by me: For Humans and For Dogs. ha!

  14. I'm a Jiff gal too ... I think it's the sugar-to-peanut ratio that changes the flavor with Skippy ... adorable card.

You know I've never tried a PB & J sandwich. Am I missing out here? I love PB & Fluff or just PB. I need to refine my palette methinks! :)

  16. JIF is the peanut butter we grew up with and I won't eat it if it isn't JIF. Love your card. My favorite sandwich is a peanut butter banana. I could eat them everyday!

  22. Hahaha...OMGosh! I was totally smiling over your adorable card, but now I'm grinning ear to ear over your stories. Your son sounds so much like mine.....PB&J with grape jelly, every day of his life until now that he's gone and I don't get to make him a sandwich any more!
