Chickaniddy Crafts: I've fallen for y o u

Click HERE for my Avocado Arts post.

Hello!

It's my first official Chickaniddy Crafts post!

I don't have to tell you how much I ADORE Date Night...check it out:

Supplies:  Paper (DN14PD01) Silver Foil Paper (CN14SP002)

The color combo for Date Night is awesome!  You could easily design masculine cards with the colors and patterns but just as easily girlify the designs!

Oh yes, that Silver Foil Paper ROCKS.  Look at how cleanly it takes to a fairly dainty font die...

TIP:  I brought more metallics into my design by using silver thread.  It incorporates the Silver Foil die cut but doesn't overwhelm the design.

I clipped the threads but kept them in their whimsical state...I like it that way on some of my designs.

I managed to sew around my free form cut heart....no hand cranking the wheel, I went for it, all the while I held my breath.  TIP:  It's a great way to adhere the sentiment strip.

I know there are some stampers out there, here's a card that uses the Date Night Clear Stamp set:

Supplies:  Paper (DN14PD01) Stamps (DN14ST01)

A trend I've fully embraced is vellum and white heat embossing.  It's such a feminine technique and also manages to capture any pattern paper you might have as a base.

TIP:  Stamping/embossing off of the edge adds interest to the overall design.

Supplies:  Paper (DN14PD01) Stamps (DN14ST01)

One of my go-to tools has to be my Embossing Buddy.  It's one of my newer 'tools', I've only really started using it within the last couple of years but I can tell you, it makes so that your heat embossing is much cleaner...no stray embossing powder.

You can google home made Embossing Buddy recipes but I picked mine up via A Muse Studio.   It's as simple as wiping the Embossing Buddy over the surface of your project, it makes so that the embossing powder doesn't stick to where it shouldn't.  I also have a paint brush handy to 'dust off' any other stray flecks of powder before heat embossing.

I scooted my tag over enough so that the recipient could see that sweet little heart.

Little touches like twine (thanks Heather!) and clothespins add so much to a card.  Did you notice my stitching?

Supplies:  Paper (DN14PD01) Stamps (DN14ST01)

TIP:  I decided to just add a strip of stitching to adhere the plaid panel down to the card base.  It adds to the line designs on the different panels.  I used white thread to bring out the white heat embossing.

So, what do you think?  2 cards...2 different looks....1 fabulous collection....DATE NIGHT.

I hope you have a FABulous Friday!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I'd LOVE for you to leave me some bloggie love over on the Chickaniddy Crafts blog!

Love both of your cards. Love metallic use of thread and cardstock, the use of vellum in your second card gives it such a lovely and delicate touch.
I just recently made my own embossing buddy, I almost went crazy and added some embroidery while I was at it...because I do love sewing :) Using the embossing really does make a big difference.
You should add your First card to the Runaway Inspired Challenge.
