Closet Update

So yesterday I woke up sneezing...not a good sign...it lasted through the day with other cold like symptoms...grrrr...I'm trying to kick it though...lots going on in the next several days and it is definitely no time to get sick!

So what's a girl to do...I could have easily fallen asleep around 6 pm but that would have meant I would have woken up at 11 pm...not going to do that to myself so I started working on my closet:

I still have other collections to put in the trays...right now I have some Basic Grey Collections that I picked up from Kim Kesti in their own separate bins...will combine them...Darin was wondering if I could fill all 50 trays...what do you think?

Floral Delight

My bloom was sculpted {sounds fancy, eh?} with a wet strip of PTI Hawaiian Shores. I squeezed out all the excess and shaped it how I liked...it dried and I topped it off with a pearl...easy smeasy:) Can you spot my upcycled product? That acetate flag has been cut from packaging that had a birthday candle. I backed it with patterned paper...all the patterned paper is from the Crate Paper Heart Collection. Everything is nestled on a white cardstock base...did you notice the sweet pink stitching?

a new beginning...

Hi All!

Happy Sunday! For some reason when I popped out of bed this morning at 4 am {I know, I know} I thought it was a work day...Since I'm already up, I decided to put together my blog post. Seems like I have been consistently blogging live on the weekends...I don't really like to do that but it works.

So, I mentioned how busy of a day I was going to have yesterday....My first stop was to meet up with the oh-so-fabulous JEN SHEARS!!!!!!

I don't know about you all but I ALWAYS find an instant connection with fellow bloggers that I get to meet in person...and Jen is just way too fabulous for words. We had a great visit {oh boy, her craft room and home are divine!}...and her sweet girl Hadley took the picture of us {Thanks Hadley!!!}.

My next stop was to join in the festivities for Tiff's Baby Shower...but long story short, I wasn't able to go because of a glitch...grrr....I even had little gifties for the boys...more on that in a smidge.

So as I was driving home from Jen's, I remembered she mentioned a shop that I would be kinda sorta passing by on the way home and to cheer me up that I wasn't going to see the Fab Tiff, I went to search it down.

It is located in what I remembered to be the sleepy town of Sumner {population less than 10,000}...um, it was hopping...like I couldn't find a parking spot so I had to go around and around but by then I was on a mission...my sense of direction is poor {embarrassingly poor} so I 'need' to park close or I 'might' forget where I left my car {hanging my head in shame}....anywho's....O.M.G....soooooo worth the trip:

Sooooooooooo FUN....Before I ever take any pictures in a shop, I always ask if it is okay. So that starts this whole conversation process when I start rambling about my day and how Fabulous Jen is...how I was suppose to go to a baby shower but couldn't....yadda yadda yadda...

Some of my frequent Garage Sale gals mentioned paper Muse to me but I'm such a visual girl that I never made it out there until now and as I told Darin, I'm a huge fan of supporting local business {translation it gives me the freedom to purchase a bunch..} I will definitely be an enthusiastic customer of paper Muse's....

Thanks for reading my novella....sheesh, I'm just finishing up my 1st cup of coffee...can't drink too much or I won't be able to go back to sleep!

So here are a couple of cards that I made for the shower yesterday that will now go snail mail:

I have quite a number of pieces from the Basic Grey Hopscotch collection...I really love the sherbet-y colors and thought it would be perfect for a Baby Girl card.

Nothing like personalizing the card for the baby-to-be:

The wonderful Darin did that wall dealio with some sort of tool....it took most of Saturday morning to complete...I.LOVE.IT. Yes, those are paper trays and yes, I have more that I'll be putting up. The kids said, "It looks like Mom's paper store!"

I'll be surfing Pinterest for some storage ideas for the shelves...baskets? hmmm...clear bins for visibility?

I don't think I'll worry about the white wall for now...I figure when I get all my goodies in there, the white wall won't be an issue...

Super busy day for me today...although I wish I was joining all the other gals at CHA this weekend, I do have a super fun day planned....I'm banking that I have everything timed right or else the whole day will fall apart {one of those jam packed...back-to-back days}.

One of the things on the agenda is taking my boy to a birthday party.

Here's a smidge of our convo:

me: I guess I should whip together a card for the birthday girl...is she a girly girl?

boy: No, don't make it too girly.

me: okay, what color should I use?

boy: pink.

me: {thinking to myself}...that's my boy.

So here is the not too girly card with pink:

I've been working at using my older neglected collections....this is Basic Grey Hello Luscious....gotta love that name! The cardstock is PTI {yuppers...I'm back to my kraft bases!} and the sentiment is EAD Designs Co-Branding with Paper Smooched Birthday Sentiments Stickerz.

This is what I woke up to:

I don't know why...but it stresses me out...I'm trying to do this whole 'healthy living' dealio...working on not getting stressed {did I mention I packed my day too full}...soooo I did a quick read through and after 2 hours I decided that I needed to press the ole "mark all as read"...that's a big deal for me...I don't want to miss out on anything but there are not enough hours in the day for me to do all that I want to do {grrr...}...So please don't think I'm ignoring you...I'll be better next week:)

So glad that it is Friday:)

Last night it took me almost 2 hours to get home...ugh...although I was super tired by the time I got home, I wanted to put together 2 cards....I'll post the 2nd card tomorrow. Today I have a simple thank you card...it took me...hmmm....10 minutes?

I oh-so-love those Stampin' Up Long Notes....I do especially love the So Saffron ones...such a happy color.

It's been way too long since I inked up my Skipping Stones Design stamps....Timeless Textures is such a versatile set. I used it here with gold embossing powder...I think I've had that embossing powder for like 15 years...LOL.

The butterfly is Jenni Bowlin and the sentiment is EAD Designs Co-Branding with Paper Smooches, it is from the Thank You Sentiments Stickerz set.

It's me again...okay, so this isn't a white base but it is a non-kraft base card...I managed to get Sherry to agree that it would be okay:) {for those that don't know, I'm having a friendly competition with my bloggie friend Sherry...she's a white base girl and I'm a kraft girl so we're switching it up}.

I'm still lovin' the Stampin' Up Long Notes...this one is So Saffron. I layered up some Creamy Caramel and Blush Blossom. The top 2 panels have been embossed and what's that? Well, yes, that is a smidge of a vellum belly band {so to speak}....I even ran it through my crimper...yes, my crimper which hasn't seen the light of day for years...I'm surprised that I could even find the puppy.

I've had the glitz'd up PTI butterfly floating around on my work top so I decided to add her to my mix.

Gotta love that corner chomper...I had someone ask me why I needed one of those...as long as you never use one, you won't think you need one...once you use it, you're hooked.

Oy Vey...I love them...love them for the soft muted colors which I picked up in my card. I added embossing for the frilly texture within the picture...

Well Hello There.

I'm behind...as my Google Reader almost hits the 700 mark....The weather here in the Seattle area has been challenging....snow turned into ice storms...loss of power...ugh.

So today will be hopefully catch up for me....here's a card I did when I was without power:

White card base = check

stitching = no power {grr}

If you didn't know, I do not like camping...I enjoy my modern day conveniences like power and heat. I'm a very ritualistic girl... interrupt those said rituals and you have a cranky girl...seriously.

So although I feel like this card looks nakey without stitching, the colors make me oh-so-happy. The center Maya Road rub-on is compliments of my bloggie friend Jeni Allen.

Dontcha love that gray chevron base? I picked up a package at Impress...they are a fun 3.5 x 6.5 inch size! I'm back with a vellum piece...I had an extra vellum butterfly that I embossed with my quickutz polka dot folder..the same one that I used on the lower portion of the white tag. The tag itself seemed so lonely so that pop of red on the top is Martha Stewart washi tape:

I also glitzed up the tag by adding scor-tape and martha glitter....the pre-threaded button is Sassafras.

So today will hopefully be filled with some crafting and also some organizing of the family room:) What are your plans?

Hello Sunshine!

Okay, my apologies for the excessive yellow/grey projects...

I'm really lovin' that combo right now....

Here it is teamed up with my newest Paper Smooches set, Vogue Abode.

i.love.it.

I paper pieced that chic retro chair in some October Afternoon goodness....it's on glue dots so it rests above the fun doily banner. I want a pillow with pearl trim...although not something that would be comfy, it would sure be pretty to look at:)

This is a wee card at 4x4 and lookie lookie, no stitching. My intention was to go totally CAS because I was inspired by Kelley Eubanks but one thing led to anther and before I knew it, it was no longer CAS...LOL.

I have several manufacturers that I swoon over..like seriously love their stuff.

One of them is October Afternoon and right now I'm really loving their Farmhouse Collection!

I saw this fun sketch on their blog by Roree...talk about talent, that girl is chock full of it!

So I challenged myself to whip together some cards using that fab sketch:

There is something about grey and yellow...love that happy combo:

I cut strips and then used my corner chomper...I adhered the strips onto a piece of cardstock and then zig zagged the strips together...way more time consuming than I had originally anticipated since everything was x 2. The card base is Stampin' up Basic Gray...still LOVE that color. Did you see the row of grey/silver pearls...

Here's a parisian take on the sketch:

I'm actually a huge fan of non-sentiment cards...they are good to have in the stash.

I actually started off thinking of doing another project until I saw that sweet Kawaii Friends bird. How could I resist? His sweet expression is seriously priceless.

I love the white bedding/upholstered headboard and of course the polka dot wall! I used a black/white polka dot tab to emulate the slight pops of black in the photo.

Happy Saturday!

Evidently, we are bracing for a winter storm here in the Seattle area...ugh...snow. The kids are thrilled, me...not so much.

Anywho's, here's an altered tin:

Remember THIS tin? Had some compliments on it at work AND a gal even ordered a set for her Dad's upcoming birthday. I struggle with masculine themed gifts but figured that the October afternoon map paper would be a good start. Before I knew it, there was glitter, buttons and pearls....I hope it doesn't seem too girlie...whaddya think?

Here's the interior:

I used up the rest of the upcycled string from a Lawn Fawn order...such a pretty shade of blue. I tend to save all the twine etc that all the stamp girls package with:)

I designed a masculine version of this taglet:

I just made it without the Prima bloom:)

It's funny how the creative process is for me, and I'm guessing for a lot of others. I totally had something in mind for my project...years ago my son was Elvis for Halloween...absolutely hilarious...he walked around with his portable karaoke machine...his outfit was made by a friend of mine..white sweats...jeweled up...flared pant legs...popped up collar..oy, so cute. Anywho's, so one year for Christmas I bought him a cheesy framed Elvis...it now sits in the garage...its a staple at my never ending garage sales but nobody wants to take him home:( I was going to alter that into my Inspiration Board project but then something else popped in my mind:

Embroidery Hoops

One year my friend gave me a bunch of hers because I had mentioned I was looking for some and well, she's crafty too in the sense with fabric etc so she had tons of the hoops in her stash.

This is the finished project...well actually it isn't 'finished'...

That is my 2012 word.

The embroidery hoop is 10.5 inches in diameter so it's pretty big...it's meant for me to use straight pins to keep those special trinkets/memories about 2012 that will motivate me to thrive through the year and that have helped me to grow during the year.

The blooms are made by my bloggie friend Sherry....she does lovely work eh? The fabric that everything is nestled on is vintage....I picked up a pretty large piece of it from a Japanese rummage sale that I use to go to on an annual basis...sadly they don't have them anymore...rummage sales are a great way to pick up recycled items...someones trash is another person's treasure.

I know, I know...we did just get through the holidays and I am excited to be going into all the Valentine's Day festivities but I'm also jumping onto my 2012 holiday card stash...

no mentioning that I really didn't send out very many Christmas cards last year...I just left it all to the last minute, this year WILL be different:)

The center panel is ala Crate paper and the feltie is Pebbles....check me out using multiple manufacturers, I don't typically do that:)

I had a busy work week so I'm really looking forward to the weekend!

Sorry about the pic, I didn't use my tent and it's too dark outside to take a pic...

This lil card is chock full of fun:

I've been smitten with the vintage Stampin' Up Long Notes...particularly the ones in So Saffron. They are 6 5/8 x 3 1/4. I always seem to emboss a section of them too...did you notice that?

{Anyone have some in their stash that they wanna sell to me?!!!}

Everything has been loaded up on a Jenni Bowlin Journaling Card that has been matted on black cardstock.

I used 3 different stamp sets:

I did some fancy stamping with the sentiment as it is a combo of Lawn Fawn and Green Grass Stamps...the 'sunshine' is a partial from a Green Grass sentiment.

I'm still having fun with those A Muse Studio Clouds...and LOVE The Twinery's Maraschino!

They celebrated their 1 year mark on Monday...now how exciting is that?!

I paper pieced those a-dorable Paper Smooches to-go cups with vintage Basic Grey...Cupcake & Perhaps....patting myself on the back for my Use What I Have mantra. It's the first time the Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler has gotten inked up...the card is actually 6 inches tall to accomodate the cups....

It seems like I haven't posted in forever but it's only been since Monday...LOL. The thing is, the last time I crafted was probably Friday so that has been a long time.

I have a smidge of a tall card to share today...the creative process went out of control and I managed to layer up tons of goodies:

Originally I scoured the web for a similar image...that route is a smidge over whelming so I popped over to Jessica Sprague to see what I could find...it reminded me that I have some Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly that I've been neglecting...

The card is chock full of goodness....I'm going to be working on my holiday thank you's/New Years Day cards today...what I can make I'll pop in the mail tomorrow and then off to Valentine's Day cards...I was very naughty and didn't manage to send out very many holiday cards this year...no excuses...

I was overwhelmed with TONS of gorgeous cards and gifties from some seriously SWEET bloggie friends...Thank You Thank You Thank You...

Hello and Happy Christmas Eve!

I cannot believe that it is already the 24th. We woke up early yesterday and took a brisk walk to the local Starbucks {in the dark..around 6:30 am}...kept wanting to turn around and go back home but was glad that we went for the exercise. That toasted bagel with cream cheese never tasted so good:) I hope to do that on a semi-regular basis...great exercise and love the destination.

We also braved the malls yesterday too...actually 2 different malls because I could not find a specific gift...grrrr...I ended up finding it and crossing my fingers that she likes it.

I have a couple of 4 inch cards to share today. Darin asked me to whip up a card for his great aunt that will be turning 90 next week:

Although it might not initially look like it, that Echo Park journaling card has several layers on it...do you spot a portion of a doily sticker? The left tab sticker is layered up with a sentiment.

Since I had all my Echo Park For the Record out, I decided to make another card...this is for a friend who will be celebrating a birthday soon. Ongoing joke with her regarding hugging...I'm not much of a hugger unless it is with the kids {who are so sweet to give their petite momma bone crushing bear hugs} and with, or course, Darin:) Is it an Asian thing? perhaps...but I have 2 Asian friends that are huge huggers...

I sewed a tab so that it would be easy to 'lift up'...finished it off with a PTI button and some Twinery goodness:

Last weekend I posted this card...

I love the use of the negative die cut panel but I don't know....the size was bothering me....it's 8.5 x 5.5...ugh, I don't like making big cards....I was suppose to make a big card for my boss's boss's boss...for her birthday. I came up with a different idea for a large card but still wanted to use that fab vintage fabric.

So here it is......made over...funny how lighting can make a difference in colors eh? I used the same Stampin' Up Basic Gray in both versions:

Ahhh....much beh-tah. This little card is 4.25 x 4.25. The top Basic Gray panel is on glue dots and foam tape....the sentiment is ala EAD Designs Co-Branding Paper Smooches Birthday Sentiments Rub-Ons.
