spirit of christmas past...

The gals over at Jingle Belles are calling out for vintage holiday cards...for some reason I had a heck of a time with this particular challenge.

On Saturday I went to a LSS...they were having 20% off their entire store and yes, when I arrived, there was a line up already...can I insert here that the woman that came AFTER me kept trying to cut in front of me?!  What the heck?  Yup, she kept moving around and was trying to cut in front of me...sigh...I believe she felt that I couldn't hold my own...but I'm not afraid to break out the ninja moves if I have to.  Luckily for that woman, she backed off...okay, sorry about that...just had to share.

Anywho's, I found this sheet of fabulous chippies from Teresa Collins and had to use them on my card for this week...now that I look at the card I'm thinkin' it isn't so vintage BUT I'm going to say that it is amy's version of vintage:)

I'll leave this to the end so it doesn't necessarily bug you at the beginning but how in the heck do you get rid of the sprigs of schtuff when you remove the die cut from the sheet??!!!  Do you kwim?!!!  With paper die cuts I'll use my Heidi Swapp distressor but what do you do with chippies?  Is that a manufacturer's flaw?  I haven't seen that in the other chippies I've used...it makes it difficult to remove since the edge is red...I still have several more from the sheet that I'll be using so give me some of your advice gals:)

Bold and beautiful!

P/s: I hate it when people try to cut ahead of me!

Regarding the schtuff that sticks to chippies-when I do use them (which is rarely-hah!) I break out my Basic Grey Sanding Kit with the files and sand the babies right off. I suppose you could do the same with a nail file or really fine sanding paper. Regarding the mean woman...I've never met you personally but I would think you could hold your own in a heartbeat, maybe she had to go potty and thinking cutting one person in front of line would get her out faster...hmmm, maybe. Regarding your vintage card, I love it! A not to vintage yet so clean and simple!
fabulous card Amy!! love the vintage feel!!! :)
Sorry about the rude woman... *shaking my head at rude peeps*... I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the card! I think its FAB!! And hmmmmmmm... I've never thought about the stuff that is on the chipboards... I guess I just pick at it till its off! LOL! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Some people never grow up, I deal with that everyday in my grade one class! Love your card!

Starting a fight club I see {lol}! The card is fabulous! Rose would be proud of the rebel in you! No answer for hanging chads, but I do hold my dies down with removable tape and that helps a little.

Hi Amy, Love your card and the hanging bits! I can't see them(of course), but I know they are irritating. Sand them, then you can age the chipboard or add same color ink with your dauber. As for rude people, you acted better than I would. I would have said something the first time she made her moves. There is no end to what people try and thing they are entitled to do. But happy day, you are not in line anymore!

ooooooooooh! ok, see, i *TOTALLY* get the vintage vibe from this, with the fabulous damask, etc; but then it's also a totally C&S "amy" card too! how cool is it to be ♥BOTH♥??!?! (hint: it is UBER-cool!) :)

re queue-bargers: DUDE! what is UP WITH THAT??! i've had that a couple of times lately and it never fails to shock! my 3.5 year old nephew ALREADY gets the concept of "wait your turn" better than some of these grown-ups!

re perforation "cling-ons": i trim 'em off with my very sharp scissors and then ink over the divots if necessary. (& YEAH they bug the heck outta me, too!) :) :) :)
I love this Amy!! Damask is totally vintage, totally trendy, and awesomely gorgeous!! Just like your card. :)

As far as your hanger-ons? I use the Tim Holtz sand paper thingy. Depending on if you're talking about the inner or outer edges of the chip pieces. I use the Basic Grey set for inner pieces of chip and the TH (or you could buy reg sand paper). Trimming 1st, as Lauren suggested, is probably a great idea. :D
