Happy Friday Eve!

Here's a card that I made for the Neat & Tangled New Release last week that I haven't posted to my blog yet:
Pink...who doesn't love Pink?
I've had the sequins in my stash forever...but did you see Danielle's fabulous sequins that she is selling in the Neat & Tangled shop?
I used the fun new On The Strip set for my card:
Oh the possibilities....such a fun new set!
I also wanted to share Timeless Twine's Multi-Colored Party Pack:
Aren't the color combos absolutely delish?!!!!!!!
That's definitely what drew me to Timeless Twine...Raspberry Lemonade and Strawberry Cupcake make me a happy girl!

I follow a ton of blogs...a ton. This morning I read THIS over at kind over matter. It really struck a chord with me {is that the saying? I didn't grow up with all that stuff}. When we moved to Seattle, I was in 2nd grade and I was bullied by a girl...forced to give up my lunch money. For whatever reason I never told my Mom or my brothers. Here's the interesting thing, we were on the reduced lunch program so I'm guessing back then it was $0.20....who knows, that was a long time ago. Obviously, what I experienced is nothing like what kids these days go through...it makes my heart break....I loved how the author of the posting, Laura Summers, finished her article:
Don’t let it continue. Teach love. Teach acceptance. … and do it with unceasing intention.

Anywho, your card is awesome, pink looks good on this blog!
I too recently fell in love with sequins and use them a lot in scrapbooking, never thought to use them on a card.
I agree bullying is sooo out of control and the schools say they are involved but bullying can happen on sooo many levels. I know my son said he was sad the other day because the boys don't always pass to him in soccer during pe.. breaks my heart!!!
And yea.... being bullied in school is definitely a bad thing. I remember being slapped by a girl once in 2nd grade. She even brought her whole gang with her... and I didn't tell my mum either.... :(
On the note of bullying - mom to 2 kids with autism, we have BEEN THERE many times. It's impossible for teachers to see everything, and the consequences for the bullies are often not all that much of a deterrent. We work really hard on teaching our own kids tolerance & acceptance (and to speak up if they see something that bothers them happening to another student). My heart aches for those kids who don't/can't share it with their parents or someone they trust.
I feel for the kids who can't/don't tell their parents about what happens at school My biggest fear is that some of them don't even KNOW they deserve better so it doesn't occur to them to speak up. We try to teach our girls that they have a right to be treated with respect, and the responsibility to show respect for others. Sometimes that includes standing up for the kids who can't. It might not be easy, but it's the right thing to do.
Thanks for sharing that link, Amy. It was wonderful.
P/s: Sorry to hear that you were bullied in school. It is never right. Not then and not now.
One of my little girl's classmates sometimes doesn't let her play with the others b/c she's "too small" or some other silly reason. It makes Elisia sad, which in turn makes me sad. I try to tell her that she should ignore the other girl and find other kids to play with but I know it's easier said than done. Thanks for sharing that story with us!
Off to check out the post. I was never a popular kid in school but I know kids today have it worse. So sad.
Bullying makes me ill. We've tried to drill into our kids 'different isn't wrong, it's just different from you and variety is good'. We're all different (even within the groups we identify with), so why can't we stop picking on each other and just let each one be?
I want to go back to your 2nd grade self and give you a big hug {{{squeeze}}}
Thank you for sharing your personal story, Amy. Bullying is such a terrible thing. Wouldn't it be great if it could just stop?
