Your Own Drum | My Favorite Things

How was your holiday weekend?  Mine was great, lots to eat and lots of running around.  Today is the start of my normal week after being off from work since last Tuesday.  I have two projects to share with you today, here's the first one featuring MFT - (retired) Strike up the band:

Those guys are so fun, aren't they?   Let's start from the bottom, I started off with a strip of cardstock from the Hero Arts Earth Mix Layering pack.  It's been topped off with a Double Wavy Stitch from the Die-namics Homespun Stitch Lines set.

The background has been blended with the three Distress Oxides pictured - Squeezed Lemonade  -  Antique Linen  + Fossilized Amber.  I finished it off with some specks from my black Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors,(retired) Hero Arts Gold Metallic Shimmer Spray + splatters of water.

I couldn't really capture the sheen of the gold, but it's pretty cool looking.  This started off because I was thinking of the University of Washington Huskies win over the Washington State University Cougars in the Apple Cup.  We're definitely a UW family (my dad, my brother, my girl + me, also need to mention various uncles + cousins too!).

I was inspired by the current MFT Sketch:

I loved Torico's card and how she tackled the sketch!

This was my original take of the sketch:

It's my first time inking up the now retired Winter Warmth set.  It's such a fun layering set, not sure why it took me so long to use it.

The sentiment is from the Hug in a Mug set.

My take one of the current MFT Sketch:

If you've been following me for any amount of time you know that I love the color green.  My second card was inspired by the Color Throwdown:

Don't forget about the My Favorite Things SALE that ends today!
