musically speaking...

Sympathy cards...they have to be thee toughest to design...luckily there are a ton of challenges to help the process...this card is the result of 2 challenges..

This will be going to my friend who recently lost her grandmother...it's a surprising color combo for me, isn't it?  I struggled to decide what to create because my friend loves to wear black...LOVES to wear black but I just couldn't design a card with that color..it is too somber for a sympathy card...I didn't want her to be sad when she receives the card, I wanted to her to think of her grandmother fondly, kwim?

I have to admit that this is one of more heavily stamped cards that I've created in awhile...the musical background is Hero Arts that I inked up with Versamark and embossed with Ranger clear embossing powder...it is a 'mystery' lavender cardstock that I picked up at my local craft store...the center pink panel is Bo Bunny that I also clear embossed with the Hero Arts Small Solid flower {LOVE that bloom!}...The center stamps are PTI...I splurged and bought a package of Prima blooms...

The color combo is compliments of CR84FN12:

Definitely not a typical color combo that I work with but I do love the end result...gotta love the kraft...

The card design is ala Tiff!

Really love this particular sketch...think of all the possibilities...

Here's another card...I'm trying to be good about sending out cards...this will be going out to a friend that is going through a rough patch:

Who can resist October Afternoon?!  I also added some yo yo blooms that I whipped up last year with Cosmo Cricket fabric...same color combo so it worked out fabulously!

Here's another Tiff Sketch:

Hi Amy, I just read what you said about making a black sympathy card and how that tends to be somber. Let me know what you think of this card: http://alienanessa.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/a-sympathy-deja-vu/

I've turned to that sketch a zillion times for various things because it's so elegant!!
