Happy Birthday Triangles

I was up on the Neat & Tangled blog earlier this and wanted to share my card here on my blog:

The ivory panel is Strathmore Watercolor paper that I heat embossed the Neat & Tangled Diamonds with Zing White embossing powder.  I loaded up the panel with water and tapped the end of the sprayer from mister huey's garden & sherbet onto the paper.  I moved it around with the help of a watercolor brush until I liked the look and color intensity.

Chatting about embossing, I finally moved over some of my more heavily used powders into disposable containers:

This makes it super easy to load up the image with the powder by using a plastic spoon and quickly dumping the powder into the container.  No more doing it over a piece of paper and emptying it into the original container...spilling but mostly having other stuff like glitter etc contaminating the powders.

The sentiment, from Sketchy Cupcake, was heat embossed in gold onto a vellum belly band:

I'm labeling this a unisex Birthday Card.  Read more about it on the Neat & Tangled Blog as I chat about what I do at work.

I added a couple of the delish Flat Matte Gold Sequins from the Neat & Tangled shop:

Make sure you check out my For Sale page.  I added a couple things:)

neat & tangled + scrapbook adhesives by 3L

post 2 of 2 for me here for the new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!

Neat & Tangled has joined together with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L for a blog hop!  Make sure you pop over to:

PRIZES:  2 prize packs each containing a selection of Neat and Tangled's most popular stamps and sequins valued at over $25, as well as a selection of popular products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L valued at over $25!  1 winner will be chosen from the Neat & Tangled blog comments, one from the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog comments!

Here's how I was inspired:

cardstock:  PTI  stamps:  neat & tangled you + me ink:  fresh ink pool/chamomile other:  scrapbook adhesive 3d foam butterflies/e-z runner, martha stewart silver glitter, neat & tangled buttercream/ocean breeze satin sequins, spellbinders circle die, acetate

I used Neat & Tangled's You + Me set to stamp up this shaker card.  See those glittery butterflies?  They are foam butterflies by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  All I did was cover them in Martha Stewart glitter since both sides were pre-adhesived <-- is that a word:  pre-adhesived?  LOL

The sequins I used

There are 2 sheets of acetate, the first was adhered using the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z that thing moves...I love it's ability to flow!  The second sheet of acetate to house the shaker part of the card...I used the extra border around the foam butterflies for adhesive...I cut them into skinny strips...I don't waste a bit of foam adhesive!

Make sure you check out the Neat & Tangled blog!!

Remember to comment to win!

I heat embossed the border in Zing White.

Poppy Sketches #7: thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We're back with a new challenge over at

Our super sponsor is

I played with Pretty Pink Posh's

I've been enjoying making shaker cards with glassine envelopes:

paper:  dear lizzy/5th & frolick other:  pretty pink posh sweetheart/gold heart sequins, pti happy die, studio calico heart veneer, SRM sentiment, martha doily, gold thread.

I combined the sequins from Pretty Pink Posh with a couple wood veneer hearts.  It gives the shaker portion fun 'movement'.

All the paper is from Dear Lizzy's 5th & Frolic collection.  I managed to pop a SRM sticker sentiment on there too.  The martha doily has been stitched down with gold thread, it adds a nice pop of glitz to the card and coordinates with the heart confetti.

live the life

I'm not quite sure why it's taken me so long to pick up the Amy Tangerine/Plus one paper pad.  It's calling my name...the colors...the graphics...everything.

I contrasted the boldness of the colors from the Plus One collection with some watercoloring with distress markers {another Julie Ebersole technique and purchase}.  Don't you love that mason jar?  It's the Floral Jar by Savvy Stamps.

I couldn't resist putting that sweet 'lil heart veneer on's TINY.

If you're active in the paper crafting community you know that there has been some controversy, that has exploded, to put it mildly.

It has put perspective in my crafting makes me sad that there is so much anger and negativity out there.  If you've been following me for awhile, you know that I'm a rainbows & unicorn kind of blogger.  I like it that way and bottom line know:

kindness matters

So with that, I'm taking a bloggie break for a smidge.  I'll be posting for my DT assignments but feel the need to step back for a bit.

Chickaniddy Crafts: Focus on Foil

Hello!  I'm sharing a project that focuses on Foil.  My assignment was to also capture the Men in my life.  I decided to design a project that is inspired by Darin.

Supplies:  Paper (CN14SPO01, DN14OS10, DB14OS01)

Over a year ago, Darin started to build an airplane.  What was on his bucket list has become a happy reality for him, something that I fully support him on.  Darin's airplane will hopefully be completed next March.  In the meantime, we have had the opportunity to borrow his friend's plane, so what was Darin's hobby of flying has quickly become mine also.
I know that my love of flying has made Darin happy.  I'm thrilled to be able to share a hobby with him.

I'm happy with the look of the Backwoods Lovin' paper teamed up with the Gold Foil.
Have you had a chance to play with the foil paper?  It really is a must!  It die cuts and dry embosses wonderfully.

TIP:  Adding foil accents can  pack a punch in a design

I die cut the happy with the plaid seafoam paper.  The airplane has been die cut with a grey plaid.

TIP:  Tipping panels adds visual interest to card designs.

By placing the die cut journal card on top of the dry embossed foil panel it softens all the gold on the card.

I have another card featured on the Chickaniddy Crafts blog that highlights the Foil paper..check it out HERE.

What are some elements you love to use on masculine cards?

birthday wishes!

Yay for Friday!

Actually Thursday's are my Friday's but that doesn't mean I don't love Friday's!

Here's my card for today:

cardstock:  pti  paper:  carta bella ahoy there  stamps:  reverse confetti label me/sweet thing ink:  hero arts hues/black other:  reverse confetti/confetti cuts/petals 'n posies, mme enamel dots, lifestyle crafts embossing folder

I've been seeing a lot of white on white...I like that look so I thought I'd give it a try.

My color combo is compliments of

Don't you love this trio?!

I used Reverse Confetti's:

Label Me stamps
Sweet Thing stamps
Petals 'n Posies confetti cuts

I was inspired by

I went clean & crisp on the sketch.

So, I thought I'd show you my photography studio:

I take a majority of my pictures on the kitchen table.  It's actually one of the many special pieces of furniture to me.  When my Mom & Dad bought their first home in Toronto, Ontario, {early 1960's} the owners left behind the kitchen table and some other pieces.

I set my cards on the corner of the table to photog.  There's a sliding glass door to the left of the table so I get plenty of natural sunlight.

Prior to moving into the house, I use to take pictures on my front porch or in the photo tent.  I'm not quite sure what I'll do in the winter months but for now, I'm enjoying the natural sunlight.

How about you?  Have you figured out that sweet spot to take pictures?

just for fun

A just for fun card, that seldom happens on this blog.

One of my newest Technique Tuesday sets

I've been seeing this cutie pie set around and had to join in the fun.

Watercoloring seems to be my coloring method these days.  I just love the whimsical look it gives a card...the splotchier the gives it that truly handmade feel.

I'm doing a smidge of cleaning, check out my For Sale page.

Happy Wednesday!

Here's a card that uses a bunch of new goodies:

I popped into J's a couple weeks ago and was thrilled to see the Jillibean, Chilled Cucumber Soup collection!

See that cute Ellie?

Don't you love her expression?  It makes me oh-so-happy.

A big shout out to my bloggie friend, Evelin, who is the Sweet Stamp Shop's new illustrator.   I love seeing Evelin's watercoloring so that's what I used on this card.  Do you see the faint pink?  I popped some on her face and ears.

I used Divine Twine's solid black to add some fun texture to the card.  The happy die is one of my new Technique Tuesday purchases.

Thanks so much for stoppin' by!

Danielle's special delivery blog hop!

Post 2 of 2 for me HERE for my card inspired by CASE study.

Hello and Welcome to Danielle Wall's Special Delivery Blog Hop!  Danielle is the powerhouse behind Neat & Tangled and Little Tangles!  She had her lovely baby girl and we're all thrilled for her!

A big shout out to the lovely Christine Drogt for getting us all together and designing the sweet graphic!

You should have arrived here from Betty J's awesome blog:

If not, you'll want to start at the beginning of the hop which is the Neat & Tangled blog!  If you get lost along the way, here is the listing:

Okay, here is how I was inspired:

cardstock:  pti  stamps:  neat & tangled santa's tags  ink:  gold embossing  other:  doily, dcwv cork, neat & tangled pixie mix sequins, vellum bag, m's $ spot felt bow.

I've had some felt bows in my stash and I wanted to use them so I was lucky to have coordinating cork to go with it!

The sentiment, which I heat embossed on a glassine bag, is from the Neat & Tangled set, Santa's Tags.  Remember, your holiday sets are just for the holidays!

I filled the glassine bag with the Pixie Dust Sequin Mix < --- I love that trio of colors!

I managed to sandwich a doily inbetween everything!

That's it for hop off to the amazing Anna's blog:
