Lipstick Red Ruffled Bloom

I temporarily "lost" my Stampendous Ruffled Bloom image...lol. Needless to say, I have found it and inked it up to create this clean and simple card. I had the itch to add sparkle and ribbon but decided against it. I love the copic Lipstick Red with Memento's Tuxedo Black...such a fabulous contrast.

Are you my Mummy?

Do you remember that book, "Are you my Mother?" ? I remember reading that to the kids...that seems so long ago now that one is in middle school and the other in junior high! The fun mummy image is ala A Muse and so is the eeeeck! The square of dp is last year's SU halloween dp...I still have some that I've hoarded away :)

Can you believe that Tuesday is October 1st?!

We lucked out with the weather over the weekend...it was actually sunny and in the 70's. What a FABulous treat! I certainly didn't plan for that when I dressed for the soccer games on Saturday...I was wearing 2 sweaters!

Sassy Cheer

Happy Friday!!!

I'm horribly behind on some cards...actually sympathy ones. They have got to be thee hardest cards to make...I'm non-traditional in certain card making projects. Can you believe that this "Sassy Cheer" card is a sympathy one? Yes, it is nice and bright and cheery....what could be better? It definitely depends on the recipient...and this is going postal today for a young blogging buddy of mine that recently lost a family member. I'm crossing my fingers that when she opens up the envy that this card will make her smile...

The card base is Stampin' Up Chocolate chip and the oh-so-cute paper is Sassafras Fruit Slice Land...reversible...the scalloped heart band is the flip side of the rainbow design....I could NOT resist the scalloped edge. I picked it up from the fabulous online store, Peacoats & Party Hats. Candice's blog is fabulous...I loved this post with her Haunted Couture Kit.... soooo stinkin' fun! I actually took the time to stitch the fun button onto the American Crafts felt flower...I figure that it will have a better chance going through the USPS that way...

I hope you all have a magnificent weekend...I have a feeling that it is going to be a soggy soccer Saturday for us....

I'm a huge fan of text stamps...who isn't? I {heart} the one from the Stampin' Up Priceless set...So*Kind. Kind, it is such a small word but means so much, kwim? It is one of those words for me...words that are packed with a punch...like empathetic. I cased myself by using my Kind & Savvy card. It takes on a whole different look with the most fabulous Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter paper, doesn't it? This went postal yesterday to someone that has been "So*Kind" to me...I'm a lucky duck.

Bowlin Butterfly

I'm sure that there are others out there that get on a "kick"....mine is Jenni Bowlin. I don't know if you can tell but the SU Stipple Butterfly has been stamped on Jenni Bowlin's red text paper...it's really fun. I currently have the quote on my card as my email signature:

"If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies."

I bought the Stipple Butterfly off of the SCS b/s/t board. I've been wanting it for a while and finally found one. I think that I'll get my $ worth out of it. I've been working hard to incorporate buttons onto my cards. I have a TON of them...The three on this card are vintage. I have been fortunate in receiving old buttons from a handful of people.

I was lucky duck to be able to spend my lunch hour with my SU demo Julie!! We had fun chatting and creating. Thanks J...you rock!!!!

Thinking of Basic Grey

Happy Monday!!!

I was requested to make a masculine card...I really like this rich Basic Grey pattern. Check out all the layers....and no ribbon! I double deckered some buttons to add some interest to the stitched panel...This card is a gigantic 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches, great size for a group card.

Here is to a creative week!

Vintage Red and Black

I originally "tried" to modge podge the beautiful Jenni Bowlin dp onto these fun 4x4 canvases...oh boy, what a bubbly mess. I ended up ripping off the paper from the canvas {thoroughly disgusted with it}. I tried again but ditched the modge podge and picked up my favorite red liner tape...that stuff rocks. I broke out my Making Memories paint and slapped it on the sides...viola! Super easy project that I was able to do last night inbetween soccer practices. Great gift for the birthday girl tonight.

I've always had a fascination with canvas art...check out Donna and Elsie.....ahhhh....such creativity....I absolutely LOVE it...Okay so the only paint that I used was the black on the sides but hey, I finished my project :)

Monograms...love them

Isn't this a fun monogram coaster? I've had it for hmmm...an extended period of time...lol. I'm really working on the de-hoarding. I bought this box of SEI monogram chipboard coasters when a bunch of Paper Zone stores were closing in the Pacific Northwest. I totally stocked up on a TON of stuff...This is a 4.25 inch square card. This is perfect for a great friend of mine that celebrates her birthday this week! The lucky duck looks a good 15 years YOUNGER than she actually is...She is the sweet friend that made my birthday banner.

Anything is possible....

How stinkin' cute is that coffee mug? I'm a huge fan of anything coffee related and couldn't resist the A Muse Coffee Break set. I teamed up the mug with fun M's striped grosgrain ribbon...Did you notice that the polka dots are filled in with my sakura stardust pen? I always feel like Fabriano cards are a slam dunk...simple dimple...my comfort zone. This card is going postal this week to a friend of mine that enjoys caffeine as much as I do!

My All Weather Friend...

Happy Monday!!!

I hope that you had a FABulous weekend. The weather has been gorgeous in the Pacific Northwest. I've been taking advantage of it by hopping onto my
bike in the evening.

Yesterday wrapped up the Seattle Susan B Komen Breast Cancer 3 day Walk. I want to give a shout out to my friend E that completed it!!! It was a first time she signed up for it and I am so very proud of her...60 miles...high five sista!!

Those of you that have been following my blogging journey know that I'm pretty much a clean & simple design kind of gal. This
MFT card is about as layer'licious as I will get...lol. I'm trying to use sets that are horribly neglected...never seen the light of day. I love the Rain or Shine set. Guess what? It is on sale...my favorite word, sale! This card will go postal today to a friend of mine that is a true animal lover. She has been consistently fostering dogs on top of volunteering at her local animal shelter. She holds a full time job...travels for that job...manages to even make time to make beautiful jewelry {I've been trying to get her to open up an etsy shop!}. She is actually one of thee most craftiest peeps I know...I think she's experienced in almost every crafting possible..lol...AND she's magnificent at everything!

I hope you all have a spectacular week!

Chandeliers....orange....black.....doesn't that scream Halloween? My boy questioned me about the correlation of a chandelier and halloween...hasn't he learned yet? LOL...I told him that it was because I liked it :)

Woo Hoo for the weekend!

Happy Birthday!!!

This was a FUN card to make...the "happy birthday" and the birthday cake are Savvy images that I bought last month. I've had the cork coaster for, well, months...I bought several packages of them when I found them at Joann's $ spot. Guess what? They are actually magnetic! Now I'm kicking myself..I would have stocked up..maybe it is a good thing that I procrastinated in ripping into the packages...things happen for a reason :) The dp is Daisy D's Bambino line that actually has some really fun patterns. I picked the polka dots with the hope that they would show up in my scallop paper piecing. I used my Sakura Stardust pen for the candle flames and had to add some bling on the top scallop. This went postal on Monday so hopefully it'll make its way to the birthday girl soon...there are sooo many birthday's! At work we're celebrating 2 birthday's on Friday...

Happy Thursday...one more day to Friday!!

I walked around my local craft store today at lunch looking for cool blue designer paper to make a card...I went through the scrapbooking section twice thinking that I must have passed something up that I "couldn't live without". I was on a mission because I was making a card for someone that mentioned that their favorite color is blue. I ended up buying fancy chipboard via k&co that coordinate with my Blue Awning DP that I already had {gasp, using something that I already have? inconceivable..}. There is absolutely no stamping on this one...nada...nothing. I did whip out the janome though which adds a nice touch to all that chipboard and yipes, no ribbon??!!

You Light Up My Life....

Surprise, Surprise...a chandelier card!
This is a B Line Design image...you can't tell but I outlined most of the chandelier with my Sakura Stardust pen. It really makes the card sparkle. I was going to revise the card by taking off the basic grey ribbon but conveniently forgot that I used the red line tape to secure the ribbon on the front of the card...oh well. I was going to use my trusty Janome on it. This will go postal this week in celebration of a birthday. There are a ton of birthday's coming up so I'll be concentrating on cards & gifts :)

I love birthday's....

Hey Pumpkin!

I've seen a ton of cute halloween cards so I thought that I would join in on the fun! How sweet is the A Muse Pumpkin Cart? It is perfect teamed up with Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie cardstock! Easy Smeasy...I add some bling and J's ribbon and called it done!

On Saturday I went to my first Mariner's baseball game {hi d!} at the FABulous Safeco Field in Seattle. It was a great summer evening and we were playing against the Yankee's. I had a great time watching the game and people watching :)

I spent a couple hours on Sunday making cards and finally finishing up my birthday thank you's...I make 12 of these puppies...Hmm...only a month late :)

Orcas Island

I tell you, it's an adjustment to get back to work after being off for a glorious week. I'm thrilled that it is Friday and I have lots of fun planned for the weekend! I actually don't have any cards to share with you today...gasp. I did "finish" one tonight but it wasn't hitting me so I'll share it next week after I figure out what it is "missing".

I am sharing some photos that I took when we were on Orcas Island last weekend. My goal is to explore each of the Islands with the kids.

I haven't shared any inspirational thoughts with you in a while. I received a very long {chain} email from a friend that doesn't typically pass them along {hi k!}. She even mentioned in her email that she doesn't usually pass chain emails on but thought it was particularly appropriate. This paragraph really struck me:

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.

So love the people who treat you right.. Forget about the one's who don't.

Believe everything happens for a reason.

If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.

If it changes your life, let it.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

I've always been one to think that "things happen for a reason". So grab life with both hands and make it worthwhile!

so grateful

Sorry about the photography of this tall card...they are always a photo challenge for me. This card went postal in July just like yesterday's...it went to Ivy over at My Asian Heritage. I wanted to highlight the Ginger Blossoms dp and what better way than a tall card?

I've noticed a trend in people talking about all the cards we make...just sitting...not going postal. I typically make cards with someone specifically in mind but I certainly have a pile just waiting to go out snail mail. What do you all do with the cards waiting to go to a new home?

Happy Thursday!!!!

You take the Cake!

Hope that you all had a FABulous day off yesterday. I certainly did although I was with all of the other procrastinating parents picking up last minute school supplies and clothes!

Here is another inchies card...the cake is ala A Muse and I just love the "You take the Cake" sentiment from Flourishes Cake Decorating set! I colored in the cake plate with my stardust pen to give it a little sparkle. The inchie is on a pop dot...and yes, it is a 4.25" square card :)

Hooray for a short work week!!!

Life is an Adventure...

Life definitely is an adventure but I am certainly enjoying the ride....How about you?

This is a "simple dimple" card as Angie would type...The "it's an adventure" is a die cut from my Making Memories Hul.la.ba.loo line kit. I love the pop of pink...now who doesn't love pink?!

Here's a photo my boy took of me with my phone outside the rustic cabin we stayed at on one of the San Juan Islands...It's a challenge to travel with one kid that doesn't like to vacation and the other that does...what is a Mom to do? Invite a neutral party...another kid! Actually it was great..."s" added to the mix and she's a sweet girl. Well, Tuesday is back to school and back to work for me...I've really enjoyed the much needed time off.
