born to craft

I can't believe it hit over 100 degrees yesterday! Luckily I was able to crank out 2 cards in the morning...that's my favorite time to craft when it is warm out. This is my take on Laura's sketch 31. I flipped it on its side and went to work...I love this line by MME...I been hoarding it fiercely but actually this is the 2nd time I've used it in 2 weeks {here's my Hi card from last week}.
I used my PTI vintage buttons and Kaiser Craft pearls. Don't you love that sentiment? It is an American Crafts rub on...been lovin' those lately. Yup, I even did a smidge of sewing...I can have that janome running at 5 a.m. and NOT wake up the kids because of all the fans that are running in the house..LOL. I guess one thing good about this dreaded heat wave...that and we've been spending quality time over at my Momma's :) Yup, she has a/c.

peaches...
Pam's challenge is to design a card with a flap.
This is also Reader's Appreciation week...I'm teamed up with the most fabulous Laurel Seabrook:
I adore Laurel's sense of style. She is a multi-talented paper artist that rocks both the card making and scrapping world! I love her use of colors, layers, and embellies...she has a contagious sense of enthusiasm!!!
I think I met her through 365 cards and have been following her for a bit...she is definitely a gal to watch! She has been picked up by design teams, been recognized on several blogs and been published!!
If you haven't popped over to her blog yet, make sure you take a peek:
I had a ton of fun with this one. I've been hoarding this Prima glittery paper called "Peaches". I originally saw it over on Sparkle's fabbie blog. Peaches, isn't that funny? I wonder why they decided to name it that?
I designed my card as a tri-fold. I added a belly band to keep it all together. I've been enjoying sewing on my cards again. I think it gives cards a nice finishing touch. I even decorated the interior...for those that have been following me, it's something that I don't typically do...call me lazy..LOL...maybe I'll turn over a new leaf...maybe not :)
I hope that you'll join the 365 Cards challenge and create a card with a flap.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

thanks a bunch

I'm back with
I was going to dig through my various stashes of pattern paper for this challenge but boy, I tell you, it was much too hot for that. I went easy smeasy clean & crisp! I used retired SU Riding Hood Red dp for the flowers and Certainly Celery for the leaves. The buttons are from my vintage stash and the rub on is SU. I'm trying to consistently "dress up" my buttons so decided to slap on some Kaiser Craft pearls this time.
We're expecting a high of 97 degrees today...last night at 10 p.m. it was still 88 degrees...ick. For you peeps that live in year round hotness, how do you do it??!!!
Come on back tomorrow...it's my day over on the 365 Cards blog and remember it is Reader's Appreciation week! I'm teaming up with a crafty gal!!

love

This card uses the Chianti line by GCD Studio. Talk about rich and texturey papers....this is the first time I've used their stuff and LOVE it! I happened to find it over at M's...It's been awhile since I'd been in there and I was surprised at the variety of 12x12'ers they had...tons of American Crafts too...all the butterfly papers from yesterday was from M's too! The diecut is some Jenni Bowlin that I've been hoarding. The alpha is Thickers vinyl and the felt flower border embellie is something I bought last december from ScrapGal.
Ugh, our heatwave continues...I tell you, it makes me grouchy and sleepy.

time for fun

I used American Crafts papers for the entire card. The butterflies are a combo of the SU Sizzix die and my Marvy punch...gotta love butterflies! The sentiment is A Muse.
It has been pretty stinkin' warm in Washington state...at least for us! I have to say that I look forward going into my air conditioned office :)

birthday bash

I tell you, I was staring at Pam's sketch for awhile and then I started rotating it until...aha! Yes, I decided to do it upside down..LOL.
Originally I was going to use some Sassafras scalloped edges for the borders on the sketch. I started to look through my Whale of a tale pad and decided to fussy cut the wave pattern instead. The buttons and hat pins in the corner are from a Peachy Cheap buy ala Fancy Pants {hmmm...could be from Flowers to Flourishes}. The Birthday Bash rub on is Basic Grey.
I made this specifically for my friend's daughters upcoming 16th birthday. I can't believe how time flies...I remember when she was born...I've known my friend for 31 years...oy vey, now that makes me feel old.
Anywho's, I look forward to seeing your take on Pam's fabbie sketch!

The "Sweet Summer" box is topped off with Regina's New Sweet Summer stamp. I added an American Crafts details for a bit of fun :)
I have another card to share with you but I wanted to let you know that Regina is letting me give away the Quarter Fold box w/Lid along with the 2 summer stamps!
Leave a comment and I'll pick a winner sometime on Sunday. I'll close up the commenting tonight at midnite Pacific Daylight time.
On to my Limelight Papercrafts Sketch Challenge Card! I was thrilled when Mandy contacted me to see if she could base this week's sketch on my bloom card.

It's a nice combo of Amy Butler and October Afternoon papers along with Unity and Impress stamps. Those cute Unity mushies are on glue dot pop dots...

in the...Limelight....
Hope that you can join in on the fun...
woot woot!
Today is my day over on the 365 Cards blog and it is also my day to pick out an inspiration piece. I decided to go with this pillow from Anthropologie:

Okay, you really can't be too shocked that I used my sweet Hero Arts Owl...I didn't have anything else that was just perfect and come on now, who wouldn't love an owl on a pillow with pom pom trim??!!!! I stacked 2 butterflies together {blue/yellow: like on the inspiration pillow} to add some fun.
I had actually started this card over the weekend and never finished it...that was a mistake. I should have went with the flow and finished it up then. I revised this one a couple times last night....grrr...hate it when it doesn't flow...so when my mojo isn't flowing I fall back on what I love...clean & simple...oh yeah, and owls.
I'll be much better today...I'll have a fresh pair of contacts...hmmm...I was on week 5 on my last pair that are only for 2 weeks...yipes...I was wondering why my eyes were sooo sore and tired.
Okay, show me what you got ladies....hmmm...michelle will like this one, it has orange in it :)

Anyways, I fussy cut the "For You" from the elements sheet..gotta love their chippies.
That's it for me...short & sweet :)
P.S. I decided to temporarily remove the followers widget on my blog. I still have problems when I view my own blog {grrrr}...see this post from the wonderfully techie Allison.

hi.

I was able to combine Dawn's RSCC12 and Card Patterns sketch 24. I love Dawn's color challenges because, well, they definitely challenge me. This week I think that the MME's Out & About seem to capture the colors.
Check out the letters...they are Heidi Swapp's that I've been hoarding...yes, fiercely, that's the only way that I hoard. Those puppies are plastic...love them. How fun is the CP sketch? Perfect-o to showcase the different papers!
Today is suppose to be a scorcher for us...upper 80's...blech. There is a reason why I live in Washington state, for the mild weather.

home...
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend...I did!
Well, I didn't think I was going to have time to create something for Moxie Fab World's
but here you go!
Why yes, I DID stamp!
LOL...
in an effort to justify joining the Unity KOTM club I'm trying to get my stamping mojo in check. I was able to buy the May KOTM from a gal and I knew I wanted to paper piece that adorable house. The recycle sign is a Hambly rub on..the heart in the middle of the "o" is actually cut out, I colored the heart on the kraft base :) The red ink is from my Marvy Twinklette pen...it is a gorgeous deep red color and has the added bonus of glitter!
Thanks for stoppin' by!!!

surprise!

Good Sunday Morning to You!!!
Sunday's mean 365 Cards Super Sketchy Sunday!
I tell you, today's sketch initially threw me...I couldn't think of how I wanted to tackle it...basically, I was thinking too hard, kwim? Then it hit me, I was going to make a tri-fold card using Pam's sketch and then things started rolling for me.
I'm trying to comfortably put together a stack a birthday cards for my nephew. What I've done in the past for his sister's is design 18 cards...1 for each of their birthday's {until they hit 18} and have different family members write in them. I typically have the greeting part done during the initial baby shower before the kid is even born but this is baby #3 and sorry dude, I'm not on the ball. Let's see, Baby C has already past his 1st birthday but hey, it's the thought that counts right?
Okay, anywho's....What a fun birthday boy card...October Afternoon's Night Light Louie which I picked up at Limelight. The designs are fabulous...1 side is fun and the other has great graphic-y patterns...love the stuff. I think that Ms. Lauren is going to love this monsta card :) Those little guys are on glue dot pop dots..hope it doesn't scare my 'lil guy...
Next up are a couple pics....for the past couple of years I've been taking the kids to a fancy smancy restaurant for their birthday's. This year we ventured to the same restaurant but a different location {darn bridge work...I hate traffic jams}. I love going to restaurants on the water...seriously, who doesn't? The kids always get chix strips/fries....LOL...one day they will love & appreciate seafood...oh that's right, my daughter had fish & chips this time...
Here's the birthday boy in all his cuteness {okay, so I'm a smidge partial}..
