Grand Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!

I can't believe that today is the last day of October! This month has just flown by! This is a little treat can and card going to someone special {hi d!}. I found out that his favorite chocolate bar is the 100 I filled the mini paint tin with the snack size bars. Can you believe that the mini paint tin was only $1?! Our local Ben Franklin had a warehouse sale and one of the gals brought back a couple of them. They sell those puppies for $3.99 at the retail store! Well, the next day I wasn't at work so my friend so kindly picked up 5 of them for me {thanks L!} was a good thing that I didn't go to the sale because I probably would have picked up 40 of them...sad but true...

Sorry, back to the project...I wrapped a belly band around the tin with last year's Stampin' up Halloween DP. I think the metal rim tag is ala the T $ spot. I still love my SU Fall Whimsy set...such sweet images! The card is an odd size, it was cut to fit my Stampin' Up Baroque background stamp so the image follows through to the backside of the card. The eeeeek banner looks like it is buckled in the middle but it is actually on there like a wave...a ripple...kwim?

I hope that you all have a fun and safe Halloween!

Sooo Many Candles...

This card is going to a dear friend that will be celebrating her 40th birthday. There is a group of us getting together over the weekend and we're making a field trip to a FABulous outlet mall. What girl wouldn't love to do that for her birthday...okay, I'd rather go stamp shop hopping but would also take a day of shopping. It is a great way to get a head start on my Holiday gifts. My inspiration for the card is the gift box in the background that I picked up at Packaging Specialties.

The card has a white panel that I stamped a couple times with the Fabulous Flower image in Color Box Mica Magic Silver. I then centered the same image and stamped it in Purely Pomengranate. I'm sooooo very bummed that I didn't stock up on the Purely Pomengranate....I've come to love it after it was retired...sigh. Anyone want to liquidate their supply? Okay, back to the card...the "So Many Candles" sentiment is ala A Muse stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.

You gotta check out Two Scoops Rice Designs. Renae has posted instructions for pre-orders. She has also unveiled a ton of new designs....sooooo stinkin' cute!!!!

Some of my Loot'ola

I don't have anything crafty to share so I thought I'd give you a peek at just some of my goodies that I picked up at Jennifer Pebbles' very FABulous garage sale..I also picked up about 20 sheets of 12x12 paper, some clear stamp sets, large glitter letters, a

So you Washingtonian's....who is going to the
A Muse Cupcake Social on November 7th? {waving my hands} I am! I am! I'm really looking forward to it...great opportunity to see the new retail space and just soak up all the creative vibes from all the A Muse peeps!!! I am truly thankful for all of the great stamping/craft companies that are based in the state of Washington. I really love to go into the various shops and just look at the samples...the stamps...see the new products. I'm pretty easy to please :) After cleaning out my garage I'm a little more aware of how much "stuff" I had so I'm being better about bringing in more "stuff" into my home...or at least I am for the time

Blue Bird

I have my blogging friend Carla to thank for this Artistic Outpost BlueBird set. She enabled me :) The ribbon is ala the M's $ bin ages ago...the blue felt flower is American Crafts, the button from my stash and the ribbon from a bulk buy. I think next time I'll use a prima flower instead of a felt one...after looking at the card it seems kinda heavy, kwim?

I'll definitely have to play around with this super sweet set....I don't do much of the shabby chic/vintage look but I do adore it.

Life is Grand!

I tell you, there isn't enough time in the day to play! I have sooo many toys that I want to use...I finally broke into my most FABulous Stampin' Up Grand Soiree! The set is absolutely calling my name! I teamed it up with Stampin' Up Basic Gray and black. I was digging around in my black ribbons and decided on the gingham. I added paper piercing and some bling...I absolutely *love* the font they used on the text stamp, Ain't Life Grand.

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! My daughter's soccer team won their game on Saturday. The kids and I had our family pictures taken on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday my boy helped me do a complete re-org in the garage. Boy, I have a ton of "stuff"...we managed to take a car load to Goodwill. I have a bunch of stuff that will go out with the garbage this week and everything else is in bins. It looks sooo much me a sense of calmness when I'm in the garage....before I always closed my garage door speedy quick because most of my neighbors are retired and let me tell you, you could probably eat off of their garage floors. I was horribly embarassed by my I want them to see the re-org :)

Have a super week!!!

Sweet Pea

Happy Friday!!!

I'm still having fun with my Green Thumb set ala PAPERTREYink! This will go out to my cousin and her hubby. They are expecting baby #2 in the next couple of weeks. Although I seldom buy any greeting cards {only if I'm going to frame them} I try to remember what draws me to certain ones. I love the smidges of glitter and bling...I think it goes a long way.

This card uses Olive Pastel chalk and Memento Pear tart...I also used Memento's Rich Cocoa...can't decide which I like better, Rich Cocoa or Versafine Vintage Sepia! I added a "smidge" of bling and viola!

Although I had a ball blurfing last night, I couldn't leave comments on any of the fabulous creations I tapped into {blogger sites}.
It seems I wasn't the only one having issues {thank goodness for SCS...I tap into it when I have problems to see if I'm alone...}.

I hope you all have a ton of things planned for the weekend...or maybe just a relaxing weekend. We only have 1 soccer game...crossing my fingers that the weather will hold. This week in the pacific northwest it has been sunny and crisp, my favorite!

Inner Princess

Another October birthday card
...we should always celebrate our inner princess!

A clean and simple Fabriano card with a bit of bling! This went postal earlier this week for a belated birthday greeting.

I haven't shared any inspirational quotes for awhile. I recently received this one from
Higher Awareness:

Have you taken ownership of your life?

When we own our lives, we accept what we’ve inherited and the experiences we hold in our memories. We also lay claim to our right to create new conditions if we’re not happy with what’s come before. We assume responsibility for changing what does not suit us. We acknowledge our own special talents and skills, and truly comprehend our right to enjoy the journey. In short, we embrace the meaning and purpose, the mystery and the beauty of our lives.

"Recognize that life is what you get when you’re born ... living is what you do with it."

...simple joys...

Simple Joys...aren't they a wonderful thing? What are some of yours? I **love** to hear my kids laugh and see them smile...

I made a set of these 'simple joy' cards for a co-worker. I put them in a clear box and popped them into the cute zippered pouch that I bought at Paper Delights in the very fun Seattle neighborhood called Wallingford. Paper Delights is a stationery store that is FABulous...great letterpress...huge apothecary jars filled with candy...gorgeous, fun, fun!

I used my memento dew drops...the Pear Tart that I used on the boots is really much more green than it photographed. I used the zippered pouch as my color inspiration...the design inspiration is via this Black Eiffel posting...

Fabulous Butterfly

Just a super easy smeasy card using the Fabulous Flowers set from Stampin' Up! I'm not much of a purple gal but it is for yet another October birthday and I think she'll like it. The marvy punched butterfly is with fabriano paper. I was trying to find a good sentiment but decided that I like the white space more :)

Happy Camper

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting SCS dacpam {Hi Pam!}...she mentioned that Paper Zone had a 40% coupon and kindly routed me one...well, sure enough, I made the trek on Friday to see what I couldn't live with out. I used my coupon on 6x6 envies but also picked up a couple sheets of the oh-so-a-dorable Cosmo Cricket "Mr Campy" line...I **love** that stuff! I was sooo very good and seriously only picked up 4 sheets of cute goodness {sigh}.

There are still more October birthday festivities..sheesh, a ton of October birthday's! This is a 5.5 inch square card...the sentiment is ala A Muse. It went postal today for somebody's birthday..

On Friday night I went to see The Secret Life of Bees with my friends. It was a packed theater and I can safely say that I wasn't the only one crying :) It is a FABulous movie...bring your tissues...really.

Saturday morning I had one 9:00 am game...luckily I blurfed in the early a.m. and read Jennifer Pebbles' blog...specifically this post. Woooooo Hoooooo, I scored in a big fashion and will be sure to note when I use something that I bought from her....what a sweet gal too. I actually took a class from her at the A Muse anniversary {? or was it their grand opening of their seattle retail store?}...anywho's she is definitely a whipper snapper and she has my dream job {sigh}...such a lucky duck.

Rock Star Birthday Boy

Happy Friday!!!

This is a
group card that I had volunteered to make for my co-worker. He celebrates his birthday over the weekend. The designer paper that I used is from my Rock Star it! Yup, I used a couple more pieces out of my hodge podge kit :) The "you rock!" is ala A Muse and the black grosgrain is from RABOM.

This is the inkadinkado stamp that I used on the interior:

How fun is that Sarah Wardrope?!

I hope you all have a most fabulous weekend!!!

Cool Roll...

One of my co-workers is celebrating his birthday over the weekend. I volunteered to make the group card, which I'll share tomorrow, and I also made this one for him. you think Cool Caribbean is on the feminine side? I took this out of hibernation for him but now I'm wondering if it is too girlie....he would never "get" the fact that since it is now retired, a girl cannot easily find the's one of those hoarded items. Oh well, this card is perfect for his gift that I picked out for him at Cost Plus. More about his gift after I tell you a bit about the card...I don't know if you can tell by the photo but I outlined the sushi plate in a blue really helps to make the image pop off of the white. The black vintage buttons have anchors on them...I was trying to do the whole sushi theme....I actually bought him sushi making supplies...seaweed, sushi rice, chopsticks, bamboo mat to roll his sushi and wasabi...all from Cost Plus! It is such a fun store...I noticed that they are carrying Rodney White those.

inspired by Design*Sponge

I love the color yellow, it is such a happy color. I don't seem to use it much in my card designs though...hmm...why is that? Perhaps because I tend to use the same colors over and over again? LOL This color combo is definitely out of my comfort zone but I saw this on Design*Sponge and it reminded me of the Stampin' up Riot of Petals.

That is what I love about creativity...inspiration is

I can't believe that I discovered google reader just this year. Blurfing is such a guilty pleasure of much to see...I don't just have stamping...scrapbooking...crafty blogs to look at...I have a ton of design blogs {no, I'm not getting married but man, there is serious inspiration in those blogs}...I even have a blog that is called cakewrecks...that one is hilarious! It is typically filled with cake typos. I just told my friend {hi p!} that she should send in a picture of her son's birthday cake. It had:

Happy Birthday Copper!

Hmmm....yes, his name is

I'd love for you to share your non-crafty blogs that you follow...I'm always up for adding more to my reader :)

Miss U

Just having fun with my Jenni Bowlin goodies...the paper is from her sweet mini pack {4 x 4}. The felt butterfly is from Jenni too...I shabbied her by inking her up with my Versafine Vintage sepia. I love using my Dymo and thought it would give the card a nice *pop*. This went postal late last week.

Lookie what was waiting for me on Saturday evening.... I had just gotten home from our 2nd soccer game and was getting ready for my friends to come over...opened the front door and viola! These gorgeous roses were waiting for me...

What a FABulous unexpected surprise.

I'm a super lucky duck!

Check out my "October is..." badge -->

Patchin' it...

Just a speedy post to share a couple pictures from the weekend...We pumpkin patched it! A fun tradition that I have with the kids is to go to a local patch...we use to frequent a "real" pumpkin patch but it has since gone out of business. This one is still fun because isn't it really just the hunt for the perfect pumpkin? I only have one rule for the kids, they have to be able to get it into the wheelbarrow...and into the car!

The weather in the Pacific Northwest has been FABulous...2 "dry" soccer games on at 9 a.m. where I almost froze...the other one in the afternoon over an hour away from home.... I'll have some other fun pictures to share tomorrow..a RAK and a surprise gift that I received...I did want to do a shout out to the girls that came out to make dinner for me and the kids...super sweet of them...and it was absolutely delish! {thanks...j&j&m...hi a!}

Hoot! Hoot!

This is a sweet little 4.25" square card. I used We R Memory Keepers designer paper that I picked up at TJ Maxx! You can't really tell in this photo but the a-dorable owl actually has glitter eye liner and mascara {ala my sakura stardust pen}! This card went postal earlier this week to a whipper snapper of a girl. I love her sense of style and think that she is a hoot!

Butler Bloom and Campaign for Creativity!

This is my take on the SCS WCMTLCO8-Nested Flower Challenge...just a couple days late...{hi suzy!}. The Butler Bloom is ginormous! The largest circle started off as a 4 inch square. My card use to be a 9.25 x 4 inch base...I used ribbon to act as a stem & leaves for the bloom but I didn't like it, so I cut the card in half. That's what I love about being rules!

Amy Butler paper is fabulous to work with...the colors are magnificent!

Ruby Madeira

Don't know if you caught my blog entry from Friday, Linograph Happy Birthday...this Ruby Madeira card is my take on a Moroccan influence design. I made the card AROUND the Basic Grey ribbon. What better stamp to use than the A Muse Madeira image with the coordinating Madeira designer paper! What's that I see? Hodge Podge? See, I tell you, I'm working hard to not hoard! I cringe to say that it was the first time I even cracked my Hodge Podge box open {i know...i know...}.

Which card did my friend/customer like the best.....Linograph or Ruby Madeira? She loved them BOTH! Whew!

roll with it...

Why do weekends seem to just fly by...faster and faster? Friday night was icky and drizzly but we celebrated a birthday at Sun Fish on Alki {hi girls!}.

The asian inspired card {ala a muse} was for the birthday girl. Just a clean and simple card with some pretty satin ribbon. Some of her gifts included fun egg molds and flower shaped mini soy sauce containers perfect for those Japanese style bento box meals.

Saturday was a mostly dry soccer game and a soggy soccer game...lunner & the Apaloosa movie {hi d!}..and hours of Grey's. Sunday was fun with friends {hi s, e & e!) and more hours of Grey's :)

Linograph Happy Birthday

Happy Friday!!!!

I was given a challenge by one of my friends. She asked that I make a card for her bff's 40th birthday. She is the gal that also received my Chardonnay Fleur pocket card. The birthday girl is employed in the fashion industry so I feel a tad bit of pressure :)

I'm pleased with how this one turned out. One of the things that the birthday girl is inspired by is East Indian/Moroccan things. I surfed the web for some inspiration and thought that the linograph pattern would be a good fit. I masked the Label Classics image and used the fabulous "Happy Birthday" rub-on ala Basic Grey. I also designed another card which I'll share with you next week.

Hooray for the weekend...mine will be jam packed with birthday festivities for one of the "girls" {hi angie!}...craftiness...and unfortunately some cleaning {boring but needed}.
