So excited to be a Guest Designer for

Virginia's View Challenge #7

I love pattern AND color....always have and always will.

I wanted to feature 2 cards that use paper from the same collection, Fancy Pants, Nautical collection.

This first one uses the printed paper as a focal point:

If you've been following me for a bit, you might know that I've picked up another hobby...flying!

Well, this is when I should add that I don't actually fly the plane, that's Darin's job.  He had me 'take the wheel' last time we went out but I wasn't diggin' that at.all.  I will have to eventually learn the basics of landing the plane, just in case.  That my friends will be a scary day as I will probably do it all the while screaming...

Next up is a shaped card...using the same collection along with Neat & Tangled's Sailmates set:

Virginia got me hooked on shaped cards!

Same paper collection...totally different looks, eh?

I can't wait to see how you're inspired by

☀☀ walking on sunshine ☀☀

Following in the lovely Chrissy Larson's footsteps, I had Walking on Sunshine on my mind while making this project:

cardstock:  pti  stamps:  recollections ikat background, butterfly reflections ink/head in the clouds/over the rainbow  ink:  hero arts hues, a muse/blackberry, hero arts dauber/butter cup  other:  paper accents vellum, whisker graphics black horizontal stripe middy bag, pebbles washi, misc clothes pin

So, did you know that Butterfly Reflections Ink have their own line of stamps?  They do and They rock.

I'm featuring them on today's project.

I made the altered bag for this card set (& envelopes) to go in:

cardstock:  pti stamps:  butterfly reflections ink/head in the clouds/over the rainbow ink:  impress/fresh ink/red currant/charcoal/mango/black tea

The beauty of the Shanna Noel's exclusive stamps for Butterfly Reflections Ink is the variety of images and sentiments.  There's bold heavy font, versus delicate fonts.

I did a smidge of masking on this one:

Yes, I do love this one:

Something about sunshine, right?!  It always makes you smile!

Love this saying:

So, what do you think?

Butterfly Reflections Ink is having a Labor Day Sale!  Everything, with the exclusion of the New Lawn Fawn, is 20% off, no coupon code needed!  So what you are waiting for?!!!

I'm really getting a ton out of the calypso coral celebration add on kit.  I designed 15 cards earlier with one kit...still have leftovers and used a label in  my card above and I have this card that I made last weekend when I was crafting with Kate & Kimberly:

The sequins and upper band are from the August Paper Issues Swag Bag.  All other supplies are from Stampin' Up.

cool priority mail

Here's a quick card I whipped together while crafting with Kate & Kimberly last weekend:

I was smart to pack my neglected Simon Says Stamp kits...I didn't have to spend time picking out cardstock and pattern paper!

All supplies are from the July kit!

This fits perfectly with

and this week over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog it is

Anything Goes!

I don't generally post 2 cards within one post...but I didn't want to miss the deadline on my next card:

cardstock:  su night of navy, chickaniddy crafts goldie lox, cherry veneer, pti pure poppy  paper:  simon says stamp/july 2014 kit, studio calico yearbook  stamps:  reverse confetti/let's chill  ink:  gold embossing  other: reverse confetti/confetti cuts/let's chill, t$ spot twine, project life/americana

I finally broke down and bought the Reverse Confetti Let's Chill stamp & confetti cuts...why yes it is almost the end of summer but isn't it summer somewhere in this great big world of ours?

That twine is from the T$'s a little squirrely so I knew I had to make the side notches to help keep it in place.  The paper on the popsicle is Studio Calico...can you see the Chickaniddy Crafts Goldie Lox paper shining through?  The red/blue striped panel is Simon Says Stamp/July and the PL card is from the Americana set...I knew that I could alter the cards

Do you notice the glitter?  It's Melissa Frances' Glass that stuff and I'm trying hard to NOT hoard it.  See the popsicle stick?  It's been die cut from cherry veneer paper.

Create a Smile Guestie: sending sunshine

This is my last week of guesting at

This card is up on the Create a Smile blog today!

This is such a clean & simple card.  I love the mix of the card base, which is a Fabriano teamed up with silver glitter paper.  The contrast between the italian paper and the pizazz of the glitz makes me a happy crafter.

Absolutely no coloring on this card, just a square of pale yellow cardstock and some stamping with black ink.

Here's a bonus card using the same stamp set:

You can't really tell but the sunshine has been covered in glossy accents and is on a foam adhesive for some height.

I'm linking up to Case this Sketch:

(thanks for the reminder Kimberly!)

Create a Smile stamps are so fun to play with!

I'd love for you to stop by the Create a Smile blog to say hello!

A big shout out to Christine and the Create a Smile Design Team for being so welcoming.  You gals are fabulous♡

sweet summer treats!

Here in the Pacific Northwest we have been having an usually warm summer.  Quite frankly, I'm spoiled by our milder temperatures and know that I could never survive the seasons that the east coast and the south has.

If I was about 30 years younger, I'd have mass quantities of ice cream to help me stay nice and cool.  That was when my metabolism was nice & it's not so quick.

On Saturday, Kimberly and I went over to Kate's to craft and I managed to make 3 cards, this is one of them:

cardstock:  SSS august 2014 kit paper:  SSS august 2014 kit  stamps:  SSS august 2014 kit  ink:  hero arts hues  other:  white embossed panel/sticker from paper issues august 2014 swag bag

I was patting myself on the back for bringing my Simon Says Stamp kits and my new Paper Issues August Swag bag.

The stamps, pattern paper & cardstock are from my SSS kits.  The center embossed panel and "Sweet Summer Treats" sticker is from the PI Swag Bag.

papertrey ink august blog hop: let's get together for some coffee!

The 25th of each month is the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

This is the inspiration:

Raspberry Fizz + Gold = ♡♡♡

So, rather than heat embossing the sentiment, I used Delicata GoldenGlitz ink.  I feel like this is a cleaner way to get a sharp look on the delicate font.

I incorporated the gold polkas by adding some washi to the bottom of the note card.

The envelope:

I wish I had an easy smeasy way to do envelope liners but I don't so I decided to stamp the envelope with another coffee sentiment and swished it with, slightly diluted, Inka-Gold.  I love the added sheen!

I ended up making a set of 4 notecards with coordinating envelopes...perfect quick giftie!

Papertrey Ink Supplies

Before you go, I wanted to also share my (forced) washi organization:

I was in search of my gold polka washi but didn't remember if I might have 2 different styles.  I had a huge mountain of washi that I hadn't put away so I just decided it was faster for me to organize everything, rather than dig.  I'm sure it wasn't faster but I love how my washi looks.  I've spilled into another printer tray...I love washi...I probably love to look at it more than use it but I'm trying to break that habit.

I'm looking forward to all the inspiration from the blog hop!

Chickaniddy: August

I wanted to share my August Chickaniddy projects on my blog.

My first project assignment was

Back to School

This card that reminds me of a fancier note that you'd pass to your school crush:

Supplies:  Date Night Paper (DN14OS08, DN14OS07)  Date Night Stickers (DN14EB02)  Enamel Hearts (DN14EB07)

All the papers are from the Date Night Collection.  Love the Chickaniddy enamel hearts and quite frankly, I hoard them much too much!

That clip is vintage Making Memories.  I used the Reverse Confetti Office Edges Confetti Cuts for the lined layer.

Next up is a card inspired by the August sketch:

Layers make me a happy crafter:

Supplies:  Date Night Paper (DN14OS08, DN14OS12) Twirly Girly Paper (TG14OS07) Twirly Girly Stickers (TG14EB02)

I love the addition of cork to my projects.  It's such a nice way to add texture.  I used the Reverse Confetti Double Edge Scallop Border Confetti Cut.

Don't you love those stacking tea cups?

good coffee...great friends.

Today I'm super excited to spend time with some crafty friends (Kate & Kimberly)!  I'm crossing my fingers that I actually get some crafting done...and perhaps start on my holiday cards!

So here's today's card:

cardstock:  neenah, stampin' up lost lagoon  paper:  stampin' up  stamps:  taylored expressions/joe to go  ink:  hero arts hues, sharpie pen  other:  studio calico veneer, misc glitter washi

I used the Taylored Expressions, Joe to Go stamps & coordinating dies.  See that smidge of glitz?  That's washi tape!

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

So I threw this out as a challenge to some gals and Tonya nailed it HERE & Kimberly rocked it HERE. I have a new love for Stampin' Up and love a good challenge.

This one had my name written all over it.

...last but not least

Super sad to see it's been such a great wealth of inspiration for me.  I was on the team but took the summer off.  I thought I would feature some of my favorites from the challenges:

Okay, that's it for me!
